Public Exchange Strategy Leader - Mercer Island, WA


 


This role is accountable for ensuring strategies are developed and executed to attain the organization's goals for net growth, customer retention and sales through Public Exchanges. The Public Exchange Strategy Leader is the key point person for growth strategies at the local/regional level, in partnership with market CEOs. They will provide strategic direction across segments, implement matrixed leadership on sales behavior across markets, and connect regional and national strategies. Provide a strategic framework around long term market strategies working with local leadership and corporate. This role reports to the market CEO (or VP, Small Business Sales and Account Management).


 


Primary Responsibilities:



  • Lead sales distribution strategy

  • Work with Small Business teams and UHOne to merge separate lists of independent brokers

  • Determine state specific broker recruitment strategy - independent brokers, eAgencies, national agencies and FMO's

  • Broker appointment and activation (i.e., administrative set-up & access to UHOne.com)

  • Broker training and certification on UHC Offerings (On-Exchange, Off-Exchange & Small Business)

  • On-going sales activity and technical support

  • Finalize state specific commission structure for On-Exchange products

  • Develop broker bonus programs, internal sales contests and review & provide input of the Sales Incentive Plan

  • Work with UHOne to expand Off- Exchange footprint in states where UHOne is currently not offered

  • Additional general responsibilities and job expectations

  • Collaborate with the Market CEO or VP to set appropriate growth and revenue strategies and targets

  • Manage and serve as Point of Contact for state specific Exchange strategy

  • Oversee the strategic direction of Public Exchanges to ensure that new business and customer retention goals are achieved

  • Responsible for achieving revenue and profitability objectives for new sales and retention in future years

  • Collaborate with other functional leaders in a matrix organization, serving as a key leader for the Public Exchanges

  • Monitor competitors product portfolio strategies, including network configurations, unique clinical models and plan design differences and pharmacy strategies, rates, competitors in coordination with Strategic Insights Group

 

Requirements

Required Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in related field
  • 10+ years healthcare experience, including working in a matrix organization

  • 10+ years successful management experience

  • 10+ years sales field experience

  • 5+ years in sales leadership roles

Preferred Qualifications:



  • MBA or equivalent in related field

  • Strong financial, analytical, data synthesis, strategic thinking and decision-making skills

  • Proven success with driving results through a highly matrixed organizational structure

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate broad spectrum of sales professionals

  • Demonstrated success dealing with broker/consultants and sophisticated customers

  • Demonstrated ability to establish and meet goals/targets

  • Successful track record of strategic planning and implementation

  • Sales insurance license maintained by law

  • Solid understanding of UHG's vision, mission, values, concepts, and philosophy

  • Superior interpersonal skills, influence, collaboration, and listening skills

  • Superior verbal, written and presentation skills

  • Highly adaptable and able to manage large number of initiatives simultaneously

  • Customer-focused; able to work with civic leaders, consumers, consultants, brokers

  • Demonstrated capability to get results in a complex, often ambiguous environment

  • Demonstrates decisiveness in resolving business problems

  • Proven ability to execute, excellent attention to detail and follow through
