The National Sales Director is responsible for developing and executing sales plan and achieving sales goals within assigned sales territory on opportunities within the National and Key Account eligible employees. This position is working with ASO and 1000+ eligible employee custom Fully Insured groups for both

carve-in and carve-out sales.

 

- Build sales relationships and pipeline

- Target, cultivate and actively solicit internal and external

distribution channels to develop a robust new business

pipeline.

- Collaborate and partner with UHC health plan,

URS, Government Affairs (for public sector groups) and

OptumHealth Sales VPs and SCEs/SAEs to jointly target

and cultivate new business prospects or existing medical

only customers for Rx opportunities.

- Build relationships with, educate and cultivate new

business opportunities through targeted consultants and

brokers.

- Focus on a limited number of large and/or very complex

accounts.

- Respond to RFP for both Carve-out and Carve-in

business

Close Deal:

- Drive and coordinate (carve-out) / collaborate and

support (carve-in) proposal follow-up interactions, answers

to clarification questions and best and final request (BAFO)

on a direct and/or through internal sources as appropriate.

- Drive and coordinate (carve-out) / collaborate and

support (carve-in) finalist meeting strategy, team preparation

and execution and present ORx solution at finalist meeting

on a direct basis and/or through internal sources as

appropriate.

- Drive and coordinate (carve-out) / collaborate and

support (carve-in) final details to close sale.

Close Out Sale:

- If carve-out, finalize and execute contract prior to

effective date. Support medical as needed for carve-in.

- Hand off to Client Management and complete details

of Sale according to implementation process and

documentation requirements.

- Participate in implementation meetings as appropriate.

Other:

- Provide ongoing sales cycle account and territory

reviews.

- Maintain accurate and timely records in Sales' CRM

(SalesForce.com) and other reporting requirements.

- Provide general market intelligence and specific deal

feedback to organization for learning and improvement.

- Provide and / or assist in training of the ORx story to

internal channel partners.

- Participate in community, business and industry

organizations and activities, including trade shows, and

present ORx value prop and capabilities.

Requirements

- Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience highly desired

- Seasoned sales professional with five+ years of

demonstrated successful sales experience

- 5+ PBM sales experience required

- Extensive knowledge of PBM products, pricing and

services and a high level of client relationship skills to

articulate and maintain competitive positioning

- Demonstrated strategic and consultative approach to

thinking and interactions, solutions oriented.

- Demonstrates an ability to analyze and think through

issues thoroughly, identify alternative responses and bring

about an effective solution

- Superior interpersonal and communication (verbal and

written) skills

- Confidence and strong ability to present to and interact

with consultants, brokers, decision makers and leadership

across UHG

- Develops and maintains a high level of expertise in

sales techniques, product knowledge, procedures and

administration as well an ongoing commitment to education,

training and development activity

- Ability to travel 30-60% and work irregular hours as

appropriate

- Sales insurance license must be maintained as required

by state law.
