The Director of Project Management plays a key role in overseeing Acosta’s Information Technology project portfolio, ensuring each project is managed effectively to achieve the stated business objective within the appropriate scope, schedule and budget boundaries. The incumbent demonstrates deep skills in establishing and sustaining a high performing team of project managers, who effectively manage software development, business process improvement, technology infrastructure and other information technology focused projects. He or she is effective in working across organizational boundaries, gaining the cooperation and support of diverse stakeholders to effectively govern the project portfolio.

The Director of Project Management will oversee project management of projects delivering solutions in support of all of the Acosta business lines, including Corporate Strategy, Retail Operations for Grocery, Food Service and Strategic Channels, Headquarter Sales and the Acosta Mosaic Group, as well as traditional shared service functions such as Finance, Human Resources and Communications. These solutions include Enterprise Transactional, Mobile and Business Intelligence solutions that enable Acosta to service our Manufacturer Clients and Retailer Customers.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversight of the IT Project Portfolio, ensuring each project is managed effectively to achieve the stated business objective within the appropriate scope, schedule and budget boundaries
  • Development and management of the team of Project Managers, including key associate recruitment, associate development, performance management and resource utilization
  • Identification & implementation of process improvements in project planning, project management and project delivery, to optimize the value of project managers across the organization
  • Accountable for the team of Project Managers delivering the following:


- Determining project objectives, scope, approach, schedule and budget for each project
- Ensuring requirements are balanced with technical, resource and other constraints to ensure the project objectives are realized
- Forecasting and planning of resource requirements
- Management of the work of cross-functional teams toward delivery against project objectives
- Reporting of project progress to team members, project sponsors, project stakeholders and sr. management

Requirements

  • 10 years’ professional experience in a technical environment/organization with a combination of the following:

Project and Program Management of Software Development, Software Implementation, IT Infrastructure and Business transformation projects
Cross group collaboration and large group meeting facilitation
Formal presentation to large audiences, including senior leadership
Data gathering, analysis and reporting

  • 4 years’ management experience performing the following functions:

Identifying required team member skills
Attracting, coaching and retaining key associates to achieve business objectives
Driving adoption of improved processes and methods within direct team and with peer teams

  • Experience with Project Portfolio Management tools to aid in the management of the Project Portfolio and in Resource Planning & Forecasting
  • Experience with Microsoft Project Professional and Project Server, with the integration of Portfolio Management, Project Management, Time Tracking and Resource Management
  • Industry experience in Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG), Logistics and/or Retail preferred
  • Knowledgeable in application development, project management, and management practice
  • Skilled in attracting and retaining qualified associates to establish and sustain a high performing team
  • Able to lead cross functional teams spanning organizational boundaries, motivating and gaining the cooperation and support of diverse stakeholders to accomplish the stated goals
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills and ability to present to large audiences required
  • Strong leadership, people and analytical skills are required, such as: problem solving, decision making, negotiation, acting with integrity and respect for others, professional impartiality, client service orientation, personal time management and ability to achieve success through exercise of influence
  • Advanced expertise in MS Project and MS Project Server is required
