About this job

As part of our Optum Technology Exchange Leadership Team, You will be accountable for managing technical personnel throughout the design, development, testing and production support process in a high-volume transactional environment. The perfect candidate for this role will have experience designing and developing service layer components (web services and data services) for web-based applications. They will have had hands on experience with SOA design and implementation. We are looking for a leader that has hands on technical experience and can speak to non-technical clients. This is an external client facing role where you will need to travel 25%-50%, platooning as required out to client sites to gain experience and interface with the customers during the project kick off. Two to three months after a project is underway the travel will decrease.


 


Responsibilities:

  • Works at highest technical advisory level on the most difficult analysis and design assignments.

  • Plan, organize and lead technical aspects of large scale projects to successful conclusion.

  • Will be considered the Senior Technical subject matter expert.

  • Ability to lead others toward technical accomplishment, as a collaborative project team, in order to achieve project goals.

  • Ability to adapt quickly to fast-paced change

  • Plan and oversee project delivery, act as an escalation point for delivery issues.

  • Hands on Management style, able to jump in when needed.

  • Determine and assesse need for additional staff and/or consultants and make the appropriate recruitments if necessary.

  • Coach, mentor, motivate and supervise IT development resources, and influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work.

  • Participate in issue resolution and change control processes.

  • Provide career guidance and management of employee career paths, training agendas and work assignments of IT staff.

  • Must have proven success leading technical teams and projects within complex application and organizational environments

 

Requirements

Required



  • 7 or more years of experience designing and developing service layer components (web services and data services) for web-based applications

  • 7 or more years SOA design and implementation experience

  • 7 or more years Java and HTML experience

  • 5 or more years of experience Managing Technical Staff through design, development, testing and production support personnel in a high-volume transactional environment

  • 5 or more years of large-scale portal development, deployment and suppor
