After School Enrichment Teachers/Assistant Teachers

Sarah's Science, the Bay Area's premier science enrichment company seeks part-time TEACHERS and ASSISTANTS for their after school science enrichment classes in local elementary schools throughout the East Bay Area.

There are multiple positions with immediate openings for the current school year.

This job is a perfect opportunity for aspiring teachers and individuals who love working with children. This job will provide you with the skills to teach science in a fun, hands-on, dynamic way. You will learn the warm and fuzzy Sarah's Science approach to teaching and interacting with children.

You must have demonstrated leadership/teaching experience, excellent communication skills, and a positive and energetic attitude. Experience working with children is a must. A background in science is not necessary; we will provide you with all of the necessary training. You MUST have your own car and be reliable.

TEACHER RESPONSIBILITIES
* Manage a class of 15-30 students
* Teach science concepts from a lesson plan
* Instruct children how to build projects from step-by-step instructions
* Conduct roll call and sign kids in and out of the class
* Interact with parents, teachers, and school staff
* Set up and clean up the classroom
* Transport all materials to and from class

ASSISTANT RESPONSIBILITIES
* Assist the teacher with the lesson and project of the day
* Pass out project materials and snack
* Help children put together science projects
* Set up and clean up the classroom

REQUIREMENTS (TEACHER & ASSISTANT)
* Must have prior experience working with children
* Background in education and prior experience teaching is a plus
* BA/BS preferred, but not required
* Demonstrated leadership qualities and experience managing others
* Must be organized, detail-oriented, energetic and flexible
* Able to communicate, multi-task and resolve issues and challenges creatively
* Must attend training sessions
* Must be fingerprinted and cleared through a Live Scan background check (FBI & DOJ)
* Must receive a negative TB-Test result

LOCATIONS:
* Multiple public and private elementary schools located throughout the Bay Area
* Currently, programs are located in Alameda, Berkeley, Castro Valley, Danville, Dublin, Moraga, Oakland, Orinda, Piedmont, San Pablo, San Ramon, and Walnut Creek
* We are expanding our program and adding new schools each semester

SCHEDULE:
* Classes are held once at week at each school
* Classes are an hour in length + additional time for setup and cleanup
* Classes typically start between 1PM and 4PM, depending on the school
* Flexible schedule, work between one and five days a week at schools near you
* Periodic training and staff meetings with the Director

COMPENSATION:
* Teachers: $40/class + paid training(s)
* Assistants: $30/class + paid training(s)
