About this job

The Regional Human Resources Manager partners with assigned Regional Managers to achieve regional organizational goals. Directs, and coordinates human resource management activities of the assigned region to maximize the strategic use of human capital and maintain balance of operational needs, Sprouts’ culture and regulatory compliance. Observes areas where improvements can be made and makes recommendations for improved training, development, and legal compliance.

Essential Functions

  • Maintains strategic presence in stores to promote the Sprouts culture, observe customer and employee interactions, gauge employee behaviors, ascertain areas where improvements can be made, and develop suggested action plans with Regional Managers
  • Coaches managers on interpretation of policies and proper procedures. Acts as an HR consultant to the management team, answering questions regarding employment law, risks, and options
  • Guides managers on the proper handling of sensitive issues, including conflicts/disputes, discipline, confidentiality, and terminations
  • Listens to employee concerns and works as a neutral liaison between employees and managers to ascertain facts and assist in resolving conflicts
  • Conducts internal investigations and resolves employee relations issues to manage legal/ethical complaints
  • Observes training needs, develops, coordinates, conducts and monitors training programs to ensure professional development and legal compliance with employment laws in coordination with the Training Manager
  • Explains policies and procedures to employees and answers a variety of HR related questions regarding forms, documents, benefits, and where to locate information
  • Supports managers in the succession planning process, including assistance in developing performance plans, assessing and monitoring training and development needs, and helping managers meet company goals and objectives as related to HR
  • Compiles and prepares confidential reports and documents pertaining to personnel activities
  • Assists in the hiring process for new store openings, including recruitment, interviewing, selection and orientation as needed; assists management in recruitment, screening, interviewing, and selection for key positions when necessary
  • Ensures compliance with all federal, state and local employment/labor laws
  • Routinely conducts compliance audits to ensure appropriate practices are adhered to and are consistent from location to location
  • Other related duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR, Personnel Management, Communication, Business Administration or a related field or commensurate experience
  • HR certification preferred (SPHR or PHR)
  • 5+ years HR management experience in a multi-site, retail environment
  • Expert in federal, state and local employment/labor laws including Title VII, FMLA and ADA
  • Labor Relations and Positive Employee Relations experience strongly desired
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to create and maintain strategic partnerships
  • Strong influencing, negotiation, and consulting, planning and organizing skills
  • Ability to confront issues and manage upwards in a constructive and effective manner

  • Most work is performed in a normal office environment
  • Lift and carry materials weighing up to 20 pounds
