Deli and Juice Bar Staff

At New Leaf we are always recruiting for qualified employees to work in the Deli and Juice Bar. This position is responsible for preparing and serving customers various food items at both our deli and cafe counters. Employees working in this position must provide prompt, friendly, and courteous customer service.

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience working in food service
Knowledge of sanitary food handling and preparation techniques
Ability to project friendly, outgoing personality
Ability to work as positive member of the team
Demonstrated ability to handle multiple demands
Well-organized, pays attention to detail
Able to stand for long periods of time
Basic math skills required
Ability to lift 50 lbs
Manual dexterity with hazardous equipment

JUICE BAR and DELI COUNTER

Assist customers with cheese and specialty foods purchases.
Assist in packaging other perishable specialty foods.
Fill customer orders in prompt, friendly, courteous manner.
Prepare Juice Bar/Cafe offerings according to standards.
Offer tastes, samples, and suggestions for purchase and nutritional information to customers.
Report customer suggestions, comments and complaints to Cafe Manager.
Stock displays fully to give feeling of abundance. Ensure freshness by rotating, keeping batches separate by date.
Label or sign items with price and ingredients where appropriate.
Pull short-date items and properly dispose of them, notify Manager and properly record.

FOOD PREPARATION

Following specifications of Manager, prepare assigned items.
Follow proper storage and labeling procedures.
Prepare pre-packed products and stock in deli cases as assigned.
Prepare trays for catering orders, as needed.
Ensure catering orders are entered properly in scale and charged to correct dept.
Assist in cutting and packaging cheese and other perishable specialty foods.

DEPARTMENT MAINTENANCE

Maintain display and prep areas in clean, orderly condition.
Assist in food prep as assigned.
Participate in monthly inventory counts as assigned.
Follow safety, storage and labeling procedures.
Alert Cafe Manager to low inventories or out-of-stocks of products and supplies.
Use department equipment safely. Advise Cafe Manager of equipment repair needs.
Follow established opening and closing procedures.
Fill out inter-department and inter-store transfer paperwork completely and accurately.

CASHIERING

Check out customer purchases quickly and accurately, using correct menu or pre-set prices.
Read cashier log prior to start of shift.
Count cash and neatly arrange deposit at end of shift.
