Purpose
To ensure Customer Service is Priority #1 for convenience store and gasoline operation
Convenience store merchandising/sales, housekeeping and light maintenance
Essential Functions
Provide customer service that exceeds expectations.
Operation of the following equipment
Cash register, money order machine, electronic lottery, safes, credit car machines, gasoline console and emergency gasoline shutoff valve
Store Merchandising
Stock, price, block and front shelves, place window banners and in-store P.O.S., and insure that all products are in date
General in-store housekeeping
Stock, clean, mop and wax (using strong chemical cleaning compounds), dust, sweep and organize:
Clean restrooms, floors gondolas (shelves), racks, coolers, (walk-in and upright), windows, fountain areas, and storage rooms. Cleaning of shelves, gondolas and racks will sometimes include dismantling and relocating
General exterior housekeeping and maintenance:
Clean gasoline pumps, maintain gasoline pumps, stock supplies, and empty trash cans, maintain landscape free of litter, maintain driveway clean and free of slick oil spots and apply oil dry
Additional maintenance:
Change light bulbs, place towels in dispensers, change tapes in registers and printout tapes, change gasoline stack sign prices (may involve ladder climbing), paint fuel drops and change gasoline hoses and nozzles and stick gasoline tanks for water. Always use water paste.
Understanding and ability to comply with company policies and procedures, including procedures relating to robbery and the safe and proper handling of petroleum products (which are combustible and flammable)
Performance of additional or different functions to those described above at the discretion of the company and depending on the location
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Physical Abilities Required For Performance of Essential Function
Bending, kneeling, reaching (including overhead) and stooping while performing maintenance and housekeeping, including the following circumstances:
Mopping the restrooms, cleaning toilet bowls, installing restroom towels, wiping down sinks and other porcelain, and washing windows (this may require the climbing of a ladder and/or extensive reaching)
Stocking floor gondolas and walk-in coolers. These racks may be as low as six inches above the floor or as high as 61/2 feet
Lifting light to heavy loads. Specifically, the Sales Associate may be required to life merchandise that may weigh up to 50 lbs.
Adequate strength, balance, and coordination to perform essential functions
Endurance of temperature changes experienced while cleaning outside areas and/or while working in the walk-in coolers
Standing for extended periods of time, possibly several consecutive hours
Attitude and Co-Employee Relationships
Employee attitude and relationships with co-employees are critical and must be demonstrated by, among others, the following behavior:
Greeting all retail customers with a friendly smile, assisting such customers in a
friendly and helpful manner, and thanking customers for their business and asking
them to please come back.
Wearing a company uniform.
Good personal hygiene.
Good attendance record.
Punctual arrival at work every day.
Good working relationships with fellow employees.
