Kohl’s is currently hiring Housekeeping Associates!

Position Summary: Responsible for cleaning and maintaining floors, carpets, fixtures, doors, windows, restrooms, and all other interior areas of the store, clearing snow and ice from curbs and sidewalks, and other general maintenance of the store exterior. Processes receipts of merchandise, fixtures and supplies. Moves merchandise, fixtures and supplies between the sales floor and stock areas. Carries large purchases to customer’s vehicles and retrieves shopping carts.

Primary Responsibilities:

Customer Service

  • “Smiles and Says Hi!” Contributes to customer oriented atmosphere within store by smiling and saying hi to all customers and Associates encountered. Encourages others to smile and say hi.
  • Adheres to the “Yes We Can” policy and efficiently resolves customer’s questions and requests. Supports fellow Associates through Yes We Can actions and behaviors. (i.e. supporting teammates needs/requests as appropriate) Operations
  • Utilizes and adheres to merchandise presentation standards in regards to the 5 Basics: replenishment, signing, sizing, clearance and clean store.
  • Executes daily maintenance routines to Company standards.
  • Cleans and maintains floors per Company procedures and standards.
  • Vacuums and shampoos carpeted areas as well as cleaning the register areas, fitting rooms, offices and stock areas.
  • Cleans restrooms, break room, mirrors, doors, and windows.
  • Collects trash and empties trash into receptacles for pick-up. Empties recyclable bag receptacles.
  • Clears curb, sidewalks and entryways. Removes snow, ice, and debris from store exterior.
  • Replaces light bulbs and ceiling tiles.
  • Assembles, repairs and paints fixtures and equipment.
  • Repairs and cleans shopping carts. Assists in the retrieval of shopping carts.
  • Identifies maintenance needs (ie: painting, plumbing, fixture/equipment repair, etc.) and promptly reports needs to Supervisor.
  • Maintains blood borne pathogen supply area and adheres to all safety policies and procedures.
  • Maintains proper care and use of housekeeping supplies and equipment.
  • Maintains a clean and organized supply area.
  • Unloads direct merchandise shipments, fixtures and supplies from trucks and dispenses them to the sales floor or stock area.
  • Packs and loads merchandise, fixtures and supplies onto trucks for transfers and returns.
  • Assists sales floor department Associates in moving merchandise and fixtures on the sales floor or between the sales floor and stock area.
  • Assists in assembling fixtures and furniture.

Other duties and responsibilities:

  • Performs other duties as assigned. Examples may include, but are not limited to, hanger P/U, sorting, callbacks, transfers, and taking of inventory. JOB – 253: Housekeeping Associate

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior housekeeping or building and equipment maintenance experience in other retail or office environments.

Job Requirements:

  • Ability to lift 50 pounds on a frequent basis. Greater than 50 pounds = 1 Associate per 50 pounds.
  • Ability to spend up to 100% of work time moving around the store. Physical activities include pushing power-cleaning equipment, using hand tools and cleaning equipment (ie: mops, brooms, snow shovels, etc.), bending, stooping, climbing, reaching and lifting on a frequent basis.
  • Ability to work nights and weekends as necessary.
  • Adherence to Company policy and procedures is required.
  • Regular attendance is required.
