Optum Labs engages all health care participants to draw from the broadest possible range of perspectives, expertise and information - including evidenced-based medicine, actionable, and translational research - to deliver innovative ideas, solutions and tools that make health care work better. We create a place for participants from across the health system to fund and directly participate in research that they might not have the resources or support to conduct individually.



This role will build products for Optum Labs Data as a Product offering. Optum Labs complex technology offering includes Lab Power tools (e.g. Natural History of Disease), analytic tools (R, SQL studio), virtual desktop interfaces and virtual sandboxes, back-end database and data analytics (in-database, Rev-R).   The data offering is equally complex including data from Optum, AARP, Mayo and several other potential partners.


 


 


 


Primary Responsibilities:


 


 



  • Solves complex problems and develops innovative solutions

  • Build and develop software applications that accelerate research and development of our Partners leveraging Optum Labs Data

  • Build the libraries and frameworks that support applications and reusable interfaces to access Optum Labs Data

  • Write client-side code for web-based applications, create fast, easy-to-use, high volume production applications, and develop prototypes quickly

  • Provides explanations and information to others on the most complex issues

Requirements

Required Qualifications: 


 


 



  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent technical degree

  • 3+ years relevant work experience

  • Programming experience in Java,  Ruby and or Python

  • Programming experience in SQL is a must

  • Experience with Agile software development

  • Familiarity with of UI frameworks (Bootstrap, Angular.js etc.) MVP application design

  • Familiarity with NOSQL data-base driven applications is a plus

  • Solid foundation in computer science, with strong competencies in data structures, algorithms and software design for data-driven applications

  • Experience with private and public cloud virtualization
