We have an excellent opportunity for a Medical Receptionist.

This position serves as first and last point of contact for external customers in the office and on the telephone.

Greets individuals arriving at the office courteously and ensures that their needs are met. Obtains necessary patient registration information at each office visit. Retrieves and enters electronic medical health information and prepares patient information for visits. Facilitates efficient patient flow through the office by notifying the appropriate clinical staff of patient arrival. Completes record releases and other complex forms or reports in a timely manner.

Answers telephone in accordance with IHA telephone etiquette guidelines. Schedules appointments and confirms appointments by phoning patients prior to the visit. Verifies patient insurance eligibility. Takes and relays messages in a timely manner.

Completes patient encounter forms and collects payment. Maintains familiarity with billing and managed care department basic services and hours of operation to respond to customer requests and may post charges or codes into the billing system.

Is prompt, courteous and helpful during interactions with internal and external customers. Maintains strict patient and employee confidentiality according to HIPAA and IHA guidelines. Performs other administrative support tasks and duties as assigned or required.

Maintains updated knowledge in the use of relevant office equipment, computer, and manual systems as well as monitors, organizes and keeps work area and waiting room clean.

The idea candidate for this position will possess the following qualifications:

1. High School Graduate or equivalent.
2. Previous experience in a Medical Office environment strongly preferred.
3. Course work in insurance/billing, medical practice education or seminars are all preferred.
4. Ability to communicate effectively with customers and visitors in a professional manner and work effectively as a team member.
5. Ability to prioritize, be well organized, and perform multiple tasks.
6. Must have a high level of proficiency using a computer system, with the ability to efficiently utilize EMR templates, NextGen, and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word).
Successful candidate will be subject to mandatory vaccinations/immunizations unless they qualify for an available exemption.
