Humedica is looking for smart, motivated people who are passionate about using information technology to improve the quality, safety and efficiency of the health care system. We develop analytic information systems for physicians and hospitals and pharmaceutical manufacturers that extract and present data employing near real time analytics. Humedica received the highest score in the KLAS 2011 Business Intelligence Report.

The environment is fast paced and innovative. Our team is highly self-directed. We are looking for others to join us who will take ownership of responsibility, work collaboratively and always look for ways to add to the personal and professional growth of the company and their peers. Humedica offers the opportunity for rapid advancement in responsibilities.

We are looking for Data Analysts with strong deductive reasoning and analytic skills to join our data operations. The Humedica data management team doesn't build software, we build the data that is used by software, and that influences the way we approach our work. Our data analysts mainly analyze data but also analyze process, practice root cause deduction, and elicit requirements from peers and do a little project work.  We work with clinical data from a variety of different sources, and then work with data about the data. We develop queries that describe data quantitatively and qualitatively, decide on normal thresholds of variation, and investigate anomalies.  We work alongside ETL developers, data engineers, and clinical informatics specialists to build data from a number of different source systems.  We're intrinsically motivated by our curiosity, meticulous about details, and enjoy becoming experts on our data model and data content.

Our ideal candidate will have experience working with clinical healthcare data and data quality from its creation in the real world, through its electronic representation and manipulation, to its use by health care practitioners and quality managers.  Candidates with strong data experience in multiple fields who have an interest in clinical healthcare data are also encouraged to apply.

Primary Responsibilities:

Data Quality Analysis

  • Compare multiple instances of client data side-by-side and quantify the deltas

  • Use in-house data quality tools to review and analyze data volumes

  • Perform ad-hoc analysis in addition to standard reports

  • Query database using selects, joins, subqueries, aggregations, and more advanced SQL to research data questions

  • Research anomalies to their root causes

Communication

  • Communicate data review findings to internal stakeholders, sometimes formally, sometimes informally

  • Initiate discussion when data anomalies can't be readily explained

  • Interview peers and browse our Wiki to continually learn about the data

Define Process

  • Define new QA requirements as client data, and our data model, evolve

  • Move from specific cases to the abstract, widely-applicable case

  • Work with team to spec and automate the busy work in our processes

  • Implement process flow improvements to expedite production cycle

Support Development

  • Network with subject matter experts and programmers to support ETL development

  • Review the results of new ETL development and reconcile with intended changes
