Description

Medline Industries, Inc. has an immediate opening for a Director of Marketing in the Operating Room Division located in Mundelein, IL. This individual will be responsible for managing, growing, and providing strategic direction for Medline’s portfolio of OR products. This role will include setting the marketing strategy for the product lines, mentoring and managing a set of product managers on a day-to-day basis, and interacting at a high level with the relevant sales teams and sales leadership. This role is a management position with a team of three direct reports, representing a total team of five. We are seeking a dynamic, hard-working professional with a solid background in Product Management who desires to work for a fast-paced, hands-on organization.

The challenging responsibilities of the position include:

· Negotiate pricing with vendors for raw materials and finished goods. Visit vendors to develop products and train personnel all aspects of each product and usages. Coordinate materials with vendors and develop finished custom items.

· Develop and implement comprehensive marketing plans and promotional programs for Central Sterile products to include product strategy development, pricing strategy, collateral creation, and brand management

· Review monthly financial performance and determine contributing factors. Offer solutions to detrimental sales or cost trends. Prepare product forecasts to include revenue and expense expectations. Analyze sales trends over time and impact of competitive strategies. Support forecasts and budgets with appropriately detailed Marketing Plans

· Work with Manufacturing, Purchasing, and Engineering to reduce Cost of Goods by assessing packaging, alternate materials, new sources of material, stocking, make to order, direct to customer shipments, etc. Manage inventory by focusing on eliminating surplus and optimizing SKU count.

· Analyze and bid on GPO and/or IDN contracts for assigned product categories

· Develop and deliver training materials for internal stakeholders, sales forces and customers. Create sales tools.

· Understand customer and sales force needs via effective market research and translate that research into new products, product improvements, or line extensions by providing leadership to a multi-functional team

· Travel with sales force to support efforts to convert customers to purchase Medline products.

· Provide timely follow up to sales forces by answering product questions via e-mail and phone

· Develop and mentor direct report staff through on-boarding, open communication, training and development opportunities and performance management processes; build and maintain employee morale and motivation; ensure the team is appropriately staffed with required competencies.

The required skills for this position are:

· Bachelor’s degree required; MBA preferred

· 7+ years of product management experience required

· 2+ years of experience managing people, including hiring, developing, motivating and directing people as they work.

· Sales experience preferred

· Ability to prioritize projects based on the needs of the business, paired with fluid multi-tasking

· Hands on with direct reports, with a focus on mentorship and leadership development

· Sales-focused, with a sense of urgency for our sales team and our end customers

· Strong analytical skills, must be able to model the financial impact of decisions and interpret sales and GM data to drive decision-making

· Ability to speak comfortably and communicate effectively in large group presentations and with executive level employees

· Ability to travel up to 50% of the time
