As an OptumRx Pharmacist you will be expected to perform various duties related to the verification of prescription orders. You'll have a direct impact on the lives of our members as you consult with physicians regarding medications and overall wellness. What makes your pharmacy career greater with OptumRx? Primary Responsibilities:



  • Verifies prescriptions

  • Takes new prescriptions and evaluates patient histories

  • Interprets physicians' prescriptions and creates orders, accesses, inputs, and retrieves prescription information from the computer system and verifies whether the order is reimbursable

  • Consults with customers, patients and/or physicians regarding use of medications and potential drug interactions

  • Conducts Quality Assurance and verifies the accuracy of all prescriptions

  • Handles drug utilization review calls

  • Reviews and approves/denies requests for prescription prior authorizations

  • Analyzes and investigates concerns

  • Provides explanations and interpretations within area of expertise

 


Hours: Monday through Friday 9:30 AM - 6:00 PM OR


Wednesday through Saturday 8:00 AM - 6:30 PM


 

Requirements

Required Qualifications:



  • Pharmacist license in good standing in Texas 

  • BS in Pharmacy or Pharm D degree

  • 1+ years experience as a Pharmacist in Retail Pharmacy, a hospital, or managed care setting

  • 3+ years experience working in a pharmacy environment

  • Ability to navigate MS Office and a Windows based environment and the ability to create, edit, save, and send documents utilizing Microsoft Word.  Ability to navigate Outlook and conduct Internet searches

  • Must be able to work the designated shift and flexible

 


Preferred Qualifications:



  • 3+ years experience as a Pharmacist in a retail pharmacy, a hospital, or managed care setting
