Posting Job Description

Purpose:

The purpose of this position is to install, maintain, monitor, repair and/or adjust all electronic equipment used in the cable television Hub site including but not limiting to RF, Video, Optical and networking equipment in accordance with enterprise and FCC compliance. Hub Technician is a part of the First Responders group requiring a basic operational level understanding of all critical infrastructure facilities with in their area of responsibility.

Essential Job Functions:

- Installs, calibrates, maintains and monitors Hub site signal receiving, processing, control, distribution, and test equipment. Makes the repair or replacement of defective equipment and performs quality control inspection and tests on new and factory repaired equipment

- Maintain maintenance records on all Hubsite components and test equipment

- Analyzes maintenance records for failure trends and reports any material deficiencies to their supervisor and/or manager

- Perform checks in accordance with regional standard maintenance policies and performs FCC tests relative to the Hub site

- Recognizes, practices, and enforces safety rules and procedures

- Performs on-call duties

- Isolates and corrects problems with speed and accuracy

- Works closely with technical operations personnel to ensure that all services are delivered to the customer on an uninterrupted and consistent basis. Interfaces with necessary personnel and vendors to ensure all processes are handled efficiently and effectively

- Assists technical operations personnel with training and network trouble shooting as necessary

- Position is focused on improving the performance and sustainability of network designs and ensuring configuration standards are maintained

- Recognizes deviation from accepted practices and confirms with senior staff appropriate next steps

- Demonstrates ability to learn equipment and steps required for correct plant setup and basic problem solving skills

- Understand & troubleshoot HSD, VOD and SDV combining to include both forward and return path

- Working knowledge of how to setup lasers, including OMI setup

- Working knowledge of OTDR operation to include fiber splicing

- Working knowledge of both CWDM and DWDM

- Thorough understanding of all hub related equipment including/but not limited to RF, QAMs, QPSKs, edge devices, video, optical, ASI/IP transport, real-time encoding, MPEG groomers and any equipment associated with the deployment of new technologies

- Understanding of servicing and maintenance of facilities, including but not limited to HVAC, power, UPS and generators

- Other duties as assigned
Job Requirements:

- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.

- Ability to work hours outside of normally scheduled shift with little or no advance notification required

- Valid State driver ' s license and compliance with Time Warner Cable ' s vehicle operations policy required



Experience/Skills Required:

- Associates degree or minimum of three years of experience as a Broadband technician preferred

- Must possess the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing

- A basic knowledge of the following test equipment, theories and signal transport systems is required. OTDR ' s, Signal level meters, spectrum analyzer. Must be computer literate, e.g. Microsoft Office

- Possession of a valid driver ' s license as well as a good driving record is required.

- Must possess the ability to read and understand manufacturers ' manuals for operation of electronic equipment and components to operate highly specialized test equipment.

- Good customer relations skills are required

- SCTE BDS & BTS certifications preferred

- Completion of HFC Core Engineer Level I classes within 12 months of hire into position
