About this job
Some of the responsibilities of a shift leader include the following:
- Must be available to work mornings during the weekdays and/or weekends as needed
- Ability to work with and learn aspects of frozen yogurt machines, including disassembly and routine cleaning
-Answering phones **
-Overseeing cleanliness of the store throughout the shift/day
-Keeping store associates on task (i.e. making sure employees clock in at the beginning of their shift or after breaks; making sure the topping bar has fresh fruit prepped; making sure that toppings are not running low; making sure that the yogurt machines are not running low; making sure that supplies are not running low such as napkins, sample cups, etc.)
-Keeping tabs on available inventory so as to make sure ordering is done in a timely & cost effective manner. **
-Cash/Safe management/Accounting (making sure that the registers are properly counted at night and balanced back to the beginning balance prior to a new till being opened; bank deposits into store account at local bank; etc.) **
- Assisting with store marketing activities (special holiday events; fundraiser events; community sponsorships, etc.)
- Scheduling technicians on as needed/emergency basis (i.e., yogurt machine not working, store music player not working, etc.) **
- Overseeing safety of employees and general public (cleanliness of store/machines, wet floors, keeping back of store closed to public during business hours, keeping inventory well organized, keeping fruit/toppings properly dated so as to be aware of expiring dates, etc.)
- Sampling products to make sure quality standards are met
- Overseeing catering jobs **
Essential abilities of a Shift Leader:
- Excellent communication skills
- Excellent multi-tasking capabilities
- Ability to maintain a fast/timely pace on all store functions
- Effective customer service skills
- Ability to lead others
- Food handlers certificate (obtain within 30 days of employment per Illinois law)
