Time Warner Cable has deployed a large scale, centralized, VoIP telecommunications solution in order to provide state of the art technology to internal contact centers across our enterprise, outsourcer partners across the world, and to our internal telecommunications users. The solution set incorporates technologies from a variety of vendors that include Avaya, Aspect, Nuance, Verint, Virtual Hold, NICE, and Symon as well as applications developed by the telecommunications development group. The Telecommunications Transport Engineer ' s primary focus will be to support the internal VoIP environment that interconnects all TWC call processing systems, speech based IVR systems, CTI applications, intelligent call routing systems, predictive dialers and other related platforms. They will provide administration and troubleshooting support for various Avaya gateways, Session Border Controllers, SIP Gateways and other systems throughout the enterprise. As a secondary focus, the Telecommunications Transport Engineer will work closely with other team members to support all the internal telecommunications systems by providing technology solutions suggestions and recommendations to help enhance the capabilities of the contact centers.

Responsibilities

Primary Job Functions:

-Interact with other TWC teams (Network, Database. Windows, Unix, etc.) to resolve issues, provide problem analysis reports (postmortem) and recommend design improvements for the telecommunications architecture.

- Serve as the department ' s transport SME to interact with the support team, development group and field engineers to troubleshoot and resolve persistent problems and escalated tier 4 issues. Work with telecom team members to resolve VoIP problems by utilizing conventional troubleshooting techniques such as executing and interpreting packet captures and reviewing system logs and configurations. Provide timely and effective resolution to support requests based on internal service level agreements (SLA).

- Administer and support VoIP products that include ACME Packet Session Border Controllers, AudioCodes M3K SIP Gateways and Avaya SIP management systems.

-Work with other team members in the Telecommunications Department, and with our vendors, to transition TWC to full IP connectivity across all carriers.

-Serve as the department ' s SME for VoIP solutions and provide ongoing support for the IP infrastructure. Be available for on-call support at any time.

- Provide system oversight to include device and system performance monitoring, alarm and event monitoring.

- Perform PBX administrative tasks as they pertain to interconnectivity with carriers or with other systems.

- Review and analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of the existing telecommunications network and ensure that TWC maintains industry best practices as they apply to telecommunications interconnectivity, carrier connectivity and other associated initiatives.

- Maintain documentation, including architectural diagrams of the telecommunications architecture, device configurations, etc.

- Interpret system logs, events and other system tools as necessary to isolate failure points.

Additional Job Functions
- Maintain operational best practices and standard operating procedures for deployment, support, break-fix, and management (monitoring, inventory, sparing, etc.).

- Contribute to intra-departmental cross training sessions.

- Support TWC ' s evolution from h.323 to SIP connectivity across the enterprise.

- Serve as a backup to the Telecommunications Application Engineers to provide Tier III support for internally developed applications .

- Continual education to maintain the expert knowledge in the systems.

- Coordinate with other internal departments for maintenance and upgrades of the telecommunications architecture.

Position Requirements

Knowledge & Experience:

- Expert knowledge of telecommunications protocols, CODECs, media resources and other related technologies. An understanding of these technologies in an Avaya environment is a plus.

- Working knowledge of IP networking and routing protocols.

- Expert knowledge with telecommunications system architecture, particularly in the contact center environment.

- Excellent IP network, VoIP and QoS troubleshooting capabilities. Certification is a plus.

- Hands on experience with the management and support of Session Border Controllers, SIP Gateways, and other related transport technologies.

- Ability to apply upgrades and patches to the Avaya systems.

- Working Knowledge of WebLM and centralized licensing concepts.

- Understanding of advanced telephony concepts, Avaya JTAPI/TSAPI, database queries for reporting, VXML and CCXML development.

- Operational understanding of Unix and Windows operating systems, server hardware configurations and fundamental database query operations.
