Job Description:

Manage relationships with suppliers, source new components, support manufacturing sub-contracting and outsourcing efforts in a heavy industrial company. Manage new supplier qualification in cross-functional teams with Quality Assurance, Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, R&D, and other departments. Work in concert with team members to source current manufactured components and sub-assemblies. Develop and execute negotiations for pricing changes, establishment of new pricing, and any savings projects. Strategic buyer will have accountability for managing, setting, and executing a supply strategy for suppliers. The strategic buyer will incorporate corporate and individual strategies to reduce cost.

Work Environment: They will be working Monday-Friday 8-5. Business casual dress code. Travel 50% of the time to suppliers domestically, and small chance of an international trip. Qualifications:

Must Haves:

1.BS degree Supply Chain Management or a BS in Business or technical field with sourcing experience

2.3-5 years of work experience in Purchasing or Supply Chain Management with focus on strategic sourcing, supplier development, and/or cost reduction

3.ERP experience

4.MRP knowledge is a plus

5.Direct experience in a lean environment and understanding value streams, 5S, continuous improvement, etc

6.Machining competence

7.CPSM/CPIM or other professional certifications is preferred OR the pursuit of certification

8.Self improvement plans with ability to grow is required.

9.Ability to travel up 50% as-well-as short notice travel on occasion.

Performance Expectations:

1.Drives all tactical commercial and supplier management activity to improve supplier safety programs, risk mitigation, lead time, cost reduction metrics, FPY, and OTD.

2.Drives dedicated efforts to meet market expectations of the sub-contracting and outsourcing initiatives.

3.Responsible for new supplier identification and supplier development activities consistent with corporate guidelines for quality, performance, and growth objectives. Utilize the global supply chain network to drive a standardized and comprehensive supplier performance management and supplier development programs.

4.Procurement of machined parts, fabricated parts, raw materials, sub-assemblies, and assemblies.

5.Leads the implementation of new strategic sourcing initiatives

6.Lead cross-functional teams to drive components through all phases of the procurement process including adherence to prototype programs into serialized or piece part production.

7.Conduct terms and conditions review, specific contract language, and NDA coordination in coordination with management and the legal department.

8.Execute assigned continuous improvement and other projects as assigned.

9.Experience in working with Engineering and cross-functional teams in the development of new suppliers with responsibility for sourcing new and existing parts.

10.Negotiations and contract management.

11.Proven ability to develop collaborative relationships and influence up, down, and across organizational lines.

12.Drives dedicated efforts and cross-functional coordination to identify and implement significant cost reduction opportunities.
