Review and interpret prescription information as entered by the data entry pharmacy technicians to ensure all prescriptions are accurate and complete. Reviews drug-drug and drug-allergy interactions and high dose prescriptions and resolves each situation. Phone doctor office or patient concerning the drug interaction or allergy. Request an affidavit from the physician under certain conditions (high or max. dose). May cancel orders, delete or change medications, or accept medications as written.May cause a letter to be written to the patient explaining drug or allergy interaction. Utilize clinical knowledge to review denied PA's (prior authorizations)to check that the denial was warranted, override PA's when appropriate, and review questionable PA's. Route prescriptions, when necessary, to the appropriate personnel to see that changes/corrections are made.

Focuses on Therapy/Disease states. Counsels patients and give guidance to patients and caregivers to improve adherence and persistency in order to improve medication therapy management. Monitors and dispenses pharmaceuticals to patients, physician's offices, clinics, or other designated sites. Documents and reports patient outcomes. Provides clinical support to management and sales staff.

Job Responsibilities:
1. Coordinates clinical pharmacy patient care.
2. Provides drug information, counsels patients, adheres to state/federal licensure requirements / regulations, and maintains, required paperwork as directed.
3. Keeps abreast of latest development concerning new therapies, technologies, or developments reported from current medical and pharmacy literature regarding biotech drug therapy and disease management.
4. Provides in depth clinical consultations and information regarding services, pharmaceuticals and patients to physicians and other health care professionals. Conducts presentations as assigned.
5. Documents quality control measure, participates, in Continuing Quality/Improvement program and ensures that pharmacies are in compliance with all standards. Ensures adherence to pharmacy state/federal licensure requirements/regulations and maintains required paperwork.
6. Ensures compliance to "pharmacy law", in dispensing to states in which the company is doing business. Monitors pharmacy activities to ensure compliance with applicable state and federal laws and regulations.
7. Provides direction to Pharmacy Technicians as needed.

Job Qualification-
Required Education and Experience-
Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy
Preferred Education and Experience- Graduate Degree (Pharm.D.) and 1 year pharmacy experience

Licenses/Certifications
Current professional licensure in state of practice
Registered Pharmacist
