Responsibilities:

As a Buyer you will support the development and execution of strategies to identify, source and negotiate high quality merchandise within our growing Garden Ridge retail locations. You will act as a consultant to multiple business partners and a brand ambassador for the Garden Ridge organization. This role is a valued member of the Buying team and is responsible for ensuring development and execution of category strategies in accordance with category management best practices. In this role, you will develop comprehensive sourcing strategies, negotiate and make decisions to buy, while in the market place. You will also participate in special projects as required. This position works in partnership with a variety of internal partners and external vendors to meet the needs of our retail business. The Assistant Buyer is responsible for supporting the full product cycle and meeting defined metrics for quality, cost, cycle time, compliance/risk all while providing a world class experience for our customers, vendors and Company.

Strong team playing, clear communication, and relationship building skills are very important in order to be successful in our business.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Improve business strategies, marketing plans and merchandise assortments to drive profitable sales
  • Determine quantities to buy according to OTB guidelines at a department, class or item level targeting buys to support events, features and specific store profiles
  • Vast knowledge of market environments regarding price, resources and reacting accordingly to impact sales and gross margin
  • Actively visits our stores and competitors to learn and evaluate merchandise, mix and analyze price points.


Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in retail assistant buying/analyst experience
  • Proficient analytical, financial, strategic and planning skills
  • Expertise with Microsoft Office products
  • Basic retail math and analytical skills required.
