Summary:

Coordinates and directs the design, planning, construction, maintenance, and alteration of equipment, machinery, building, and other facilities by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.

Primary Duties:

  • Inspects plant and evaluates use of space and facilities.
  • Plans, budgets, and schedules facilities modifications including cost estimates, cost justifications, bid sheets, layouts, and contracts for construction and acquisitions.
  • Performs audits to support facility planning.
  • Develops long range plans, conceptual designs and capital outlay requirements and documentation for facility.
  • Formulates and coordinates program specifications, requirements for proposals and contracts, and associated documents.
  • Acts as liaison to public utility, environmental, and energy and governmental agencies.
  • Inspects construction and installation progress to ensure conformance to established specifications.
  • Reviews real estate contracts for compliance with government specifications.
  • Oversees the coordination of building space allocation, layout, and communication services.
  • Oversees and directs maintenance personnel and workers engaged in equipment installation, facilities equipment repair, and preventive maintenance.
  • Administers performance review program to ensure effectiveness, compliance, and equity within organization.
  • Administers salary administration program to ensure compliance and equity within organization.
  • Conducts wage surveys within labor market to determine competitive wage rate.


Supervisory Responsibilities:

Manages subordinate supervisors who supervise employee in the Manufacturing Department, Shipping Department, Office and Yard areas. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Also directly supervises non-supervisory office employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Pipe and Tube experience required.

Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year College or university; or five to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills:

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
  • Ability to respond to common inquires or complaints from customers, regulatory
    agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.
  • Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

Mathematical Skills:

  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratio, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Aptitude to calculate and use the following instruments ? Scale in 1/8", 1/16", 1/32" and 1/64" increments ? 12" to 72" long; Protractor Head, Diameter Tape ? 100's increments, Micrometers, Diameter Tape ? 1/64" increments, 6" Vernier Caliper, 50' Tapes, Ring Gauges, Squares, Levels, Line Levels, Various Tape Measures, Conversion Charts (Decimal to Fraction, Fraction to Decimal), Tri-Square, String Line, Feeler Gauges, Overhead Scale, Dial Indicators, Calipers.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to define problems collects data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
