On behalf of Research Triangle Institute International (RTI), Headway workforce solutions is looking for Field Interviewers to work on a government sponsored research study.

Field Interviewers (FIs) will work on the 2014 Health Center Patient Survey which is sponsored by the Bureau of Primary Health Care within the Health Resources and Services Administration. The survey will be conducted with a national sample of 6,600 patients who use health centers funded under Section 330 of the Public Health Service Act.

All FIs work as employees of Headway Workforce Solutions

Position Summary:

This is a part time position offering an average of 20 - 25 hours/week. FIs will be responsible for traveling to assigned provider locations and conducting in-person interviews with eligible respondents. The position will begin with an in-person training in Durham, NC to be held September 27 - 30. Work is expected to continue through February 2015. Qualified candidates must be willing and able to work a variable schedule, and commit to the full duration of the study.

This position is subject to the Services Contract Act. Pay for this position is an hourly rate determined based the county where work is conducted. For King county, where we are looking for candidates, the hourly pay rate is $19.01. Health & Welfare Compensation will also be offered at a rate of $3.71.


The following duties may be required for the position for this project:
  • Ask survey questions verbatim using computer assisted personal interviewing.
  • Document all activity and interaction with respondents as required.
  • Meet performance expectations in areas of efficiency, quality, response rates, and schedule.
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Maintain a professional attitude at all times.
  • Satisfactorily complete project training program.
  • Reliable personal automobile available or access to public transportation for business use


Position Requirements:
  • Demonstrated ability to work with supervisor and complete assignments on schedule
  • Ability to use maps to locate sampled health centers
  • Ability to obtain cooperation of survey respondents by effectively answering questions and addressing concerns
  • Ability to correctly obtain informed consent and to conduct personal interviews
  • Ability to accurately complete all project documents, and all reporting forms
  • Ability to adhere strictly to project deadlines for completing interviews, reporting progress, and returning materials
  • Ability to maintain accurate, up-to-date records of progress in the field
  • Effective consideration and implementation of appropriate footwear for entering the field, which promotes safety and comfort.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Availability to work required hours as specified and mutually agreed upon at the time of hiring, including evening and weekend hours as needed.
  • Ability to walk and stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to climb stairs (various number of flights) as needed.
  • Ability to carry project-related equipment, approximately 15 pounds.
  • Must have broadband internet connection (eg. DSL, cable internet, etc.)
  • Ability to adapt to various social environments and areas.
