* Manager Credit Allowances * This is a key role within Operations Accounting to ensure the proper controls are in place to process, record and collect vendor funding in accordance with company best practices and in compliance with GAAP. Identify opportunities and create efficiencies that maximize earnings and cash flow. Minimize debit balance exposure. This position is a key resource for General Accounting and the Merchant organization and is also a key vendor contact. Primary Job Responsibilities: * Manage the Vendor Deal Portal (VDP) to ensure that all credit allowances are created in accordance with best practices and in compliance with GAAP. Act as primary Internal Approver within the VDP workflow. * Manage team of correspondents and an analyst to respond to vendor claims and ensure proper dollars are collected from the vendors; communicate necessary information to Hong Kong to collect off of Import payments when necessary. * Enhance talent of team via cross training and by providing regular feedback of performance strengths and weaknesses. * Assist the quarterly and annual closing process by preparing schedules related to accruals, paybacks, prior year income and reserves; support financial audit. * Liaison with external A/P auditors to help validate prospective claims relative to credit allowances. * Review and approve vendor adjustments in accordance with defined approval thresholds. * Ensure team is following Sarbanes-Oxley procedures and process is documented; enhance documentation as necessary and review with external and internal auditors * Maintain department SOPs. * Become the key resource to the Merchant organization to respond to questions relating to how allowance deals should be written. * Lead IT projects that improve efficiencies and drive profitability. * BA in finance or accounting required. MBA a plus. * 5 years of proven managerial and analytical experience. * Prior retail company experience is preferred. * Ability to formulate observations and make financial recommendations, articulate findings and deliver results to small and large groups. * Must have experience conducting meetings to discuss results of analysis. * Must be able to communicate effectively with confidence, to all levels of the organization. * Excellent oral/written communication and presentation skills are a must. * Ability to process large volumes of data into meaningful, actionable reporting and analysis. * Ability to maintain databases and become subject expert in definitions of all data fields. * Ability to plan and coordinate multiple projects with varying deadlines. * Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Access and Excel. * Strong organizational skills * Proven track record of successful supervisory experience. **Job Function:** Finance **Primary Location:** USA-NJ-Wayne **Schedule:** Full-time **Organization:** Headquarters **Job Type:** Standard **Education Level:** Bachelor's Degree **Travel:** No **Brand:** Toys 'R' US **Req ID:** 51082
