QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
One-year certificate from college or technical school; or at least 3 months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to apply concepts of basic math and algebra. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Interfaces with engineers to perform tests to provide meaningful data.
  • Assembles and tests experimental electrical equipment and components according to engineering specifications.
  • Modifies electrical prototypes to correct functional deviations under direction of engineer.
  • Diagnoses the cause of electrical/mechanical malfunction or failure of operational equipment and performs preventive and corrective maintenance.
  • Installs through hole and surface mount components in proper orientation and inspects completed boards for loading faults.
  • Works under immediate supervision one job at a time, on duties and tasks that are simple and repetitive from detailed verbal and written instructions.
  • Ensures laboratory stock levels are appropriate and keeps hand tools and tests equipment in good working order.
