The Public Relations Manager - Crisis Communications provides tactical guidance and support to Operations and Clinical teams to resolve sensitive community issues and crises, serving as secondary communications counselor with communities. Accomplishes and message development for communicating about issues and crises with residents, families, associates, and media, and serves as spokesperson when appropriate. Promotes positive reputation of company through local and corporate initiatives by identifying, writing, and pitching positive stories about Brookdale communities and by providing media/PR support for the company’s marketing programs and initiatives.

Key responsibilities include:
* Serves as media liaison and spokesperson in both positive and adverse media situations.
* Operates as back-up contact for community support, inside and outside of regular business hours.
* Provides crisis communications counsel to communities and interacts with local media during crisis situations, as appropriate.
* Identifies, develops and pitches promotional and human interest stories, as appropriate.
* Develops or assists in the development of publicity campaigns for the communities and for the company.
* Provides formal and informal media training to community leaders.
* Develops messaging and talking points for media interviews, participates in and monitors interviews done by approved subject matter experts.

We seek the following principal qualifications:
* Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations or related field.
* Three years media relations experience in crisis situations.
* Expertise in developing publicity tools: press releases, feature articles, press kits, etc.
* Excellent writing skills, keen attention to detail, and good organizational skills.
* Computer literacy (word processing, spreadsheets, databases).
* Ability to work on tight deadlines and manage multiple tasks.
* Ability to interact positively with wide-range of personality types.
