The Time Warner Cable Syracuse office currently seeks a Tier 3 Systems Engineer for our Unix Operations department. Below please find a brief description of the essential duties and responsibilities required to function successfully in this position. This position requires experienced, skilled and talented individuals.

Essential Job Functions:

- Provide Tier III support services for Time Warner Cable. Duties include processing or troubleshooting Service Desk tickets as assigned. Measures of success include the ability to resolve assigned tickets in a timely manner as well as be viewed positively by our customers as courteous and helpful.

- Provide advanced systems administration and on-call support as required for all supported servers. Measures of success include the ability to identify and implement proactive services that accurately monitor and report systems status information for the purpose of maximizing uptime and optimizing systems performance. Rapid response and remediation to problems or deficiencies are essential keys to success.

- Identify and provide proactive corrective actions for repeat failed systems, target systems for continual system improvement and develop process, changes and measurements that will reduce system failures. Determine large scale operational change benefits and deploy as needed. Develop large scale and pin point changes designed for specific existing issues or future outages.

- Perform other duties as required by management.

Job Requirements:

This position requires a high level of technical competence in the following areas:

- Unix/Linux OS for AIX 5x/higher, Redhat/Oracle Enterprise Linux 5x/higher and Solaris 10/11

- Compliance/ICC Audit Support (PCI, SOX, Internal and External)

- Operational Project Support

- Veritas Cluster Configuration and Storage Management

- SAN and NAS Storage configuration from host perspective including SAN Migrations

- Incident Bridge Support

- Operational Tech Designs

- Change Management Support

- Understanding of Active Directory/Access Management/Power Broker

- File System Management (LVM, ZFS)

- Solaris CDOM/LDOM management

- Performance Tuning

- Escalation point for Patching and Firmware problems

- Server hardware and configuration, including an understanding of the architecture of server systems

- Advanced monitoring and Unix scripting tools/ standards

- Experience with the tasks involved in the day-to-day operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of datacenter server services

- Process documentation

Required Qualifications:

Successful candidates must have:

- Excellent oral and written communication skills in addition to strong collaboration skills

- Be a team player, with an inherent ability to work well under face-paced, constant changing environments, tight timelines, and have good problem-solving capabilities

- Ability to work with many interruptions

- Ability to determine priority and impact of issues and act accordingly in potentially stressful situations

- Required to work closely with remote teams to accomplish common tasks

- High level troubleshooting and problem identification skills and experience

- Ability to manage the client relationship in a manner that respects the client and creates a productive relationship

- Ability to drive work by leading by example and motivating all concerned until the goals are met.

Required Minimum Education and/or Certifications:

Bachelor ' s degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or equivalent training, education and experience
