Alterations Associate

POSITION OBJECTIVES

Provide each customer with a superior shopping experience. Alter hem lengths and perform minor repairs to store merchandise.

POSITION DUTIES

• Measure, pin, cut, sew by hand and machine, hems on store merchandise.
• Attach snaps and buttons.
• Repair floor merchandise with minor damages.
• Replace zippers and remove spotted areas on merchandise.
• Follow all company policies, rules and procedures.
• Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the Store Manager.
• Complete all assigned training.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

• 1-2 years of experience in an alterations position.
• Sewing and garment repair skills.
• Engaging personality
• Flexible availability required, including nights and weekends.
• Ability to work independently.
• Ability to effectively communicate with Customers.
• Retail knowledge preferred.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Bending, lifting, and carrying for movement of merchandise.
• Ability to understand and carry out verbal and written communication.
• Basic math and reading skills.
• Operate various equipment and hand tools requiring manual dexterity and hand eye coordination including industrial sewing machine, snap machine, Iron, Ironing board, sewing needles, thread, seam ripper, ruler, measuring tape, sewing chalk, scissors and spot remover.
