Summary:

The Database Developer will work with Data Architect in developing and maintaining the enterprise data warehouse to support the client facing reporting system and other analytical products. This includes managing the full lifecycle of database objects in the warehouse environment, supporting the needs of the report development team, and insuring the overall performance of the data warehouse. This person will also act as an expert, providing guidance to our development, data integrity, and reporting teams regarding best practices and trouble-shooting. This position will be reporting to the Director of Application Development.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Work on designing and implementing data structures for new functionality and restructure existing data structures to increase performance, write queries and stored procedures
• Perform system analysis in order to determine most effective design strategy.
• Troubleshoot issues that arise during the lifecycle of a project and escalate as appropriate as well as participate in process improvement discussions.
• Create and maintain technical documentation such as design and test plans
• Create SQL Server stored procedures, functions, views, and tables to build ETL feeds.
• Perform code reviews and deployments.
• Ensure all database entities are properly tested for functionality delivered and performance
• Oversee and support the NextGear databases in all environments, development, staging and production
• Troubleshoot issues that arise during the lifecycle of a project and escalate as appropriate as well as participate in process improvement discussions.
• Work with Business Analysts, other team members and clients to review the business requirements and translate them into database objects
• Work with Data Architect, Systems Administration and Operations personnel to support the implementation of applications into production
• Willing to learn new tools and technologies to be able to work effectively in a rapid growth environment with changing needs and requirements

Qualifications

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Excellent problem solving and analytical skills, ability to think strategically.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Ability to multi-task, is highly organized and can work independently

• Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve quickly

• Knowledge of BI & Reporting tools, such as WebFOCUS, Cognos, Micro Strategy, SSRS is a plus

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science (or related)

• 5+ years of SQL Server experience required with the ability to create SSIS packages

• Experience in working on medium to large scale Enterprise Data Warehouse environment

• Experience with Database Warehousing Design Concepts; Dimensional Modeling, Star/Snowflake Schemas, ETL/ELT, Data Marts, Analytic, Reporting techniques, etc.

• Experience working with financial data is a plus
