Time Warner Cable currently seeks a Construction Technician for our Technical Ops/Eng Department. Below please find a brief description of the essential duties and responsibilities required to function successfully in this position.
Duties
- Repair and replace damaged aerial and underground coax and fiber optic cable
- Repair and replace damaged pedestals, taps, drops and line extenders
- Perform repair duties; prewiring drops, tap auditing, pole transfers and lashing repairs
- Install aerial strand, coax and fiber optic cable
- Install underground coax and fiber optic cable
- Splice and activate new subdivisions and plant extensions
- Performs on-call Fiber optic and coax cable restoration duties
Job Requirements
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, digging, crawling, stooping, and standing
- Climbing on ladders, telephone poles and/or towers
- Works outside and inside throughout the year. Works in various weather conditions, which could be extreme hot or cold conditions
- May drive for long periods
- Has extensive contact with construction and technical personnel, contractors, customers, and general public. Driving, lifting and carrying equipment, climbing, use of tools
- Must have good verbal, written and interpersonal communicating skills
- Knowledge of NEC, State, County, City and utility company construction regulations
- Hand tools, power tools, company vehicle, and various size tools including screwdrivers, pliers, ladders, test meters, and a two-way radio. May also operate aerial bucket trucks, air compressor, and hydraulic winch
Preferred Qualifications
- Two year ' s experience in cable installation or construction
- Thorough knowledge of electronics, technical and construction tasks. Must be familiar with OSHA, FCC, and TWC regulations and specifications
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair technical problems for customers and technicians through effective communications
- Ability to operate test equipment: Ohm meter, TDR, signal level meter, and cable locator
- Must have a valid Texas driver ' s license with good driving record
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma/recognized equivalent or minimum 5 years of directly related experience required
