SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The Service Manager/Assistant Manager assists the Center Manager in managing the day-to-day operations of a Just Brakes Automotive Service Center, and performs the duties and responsibilities of Center Manager in the absence of the Manager; providing leadership to Center personnel and ensuring employee compliance with all Just Brakes Policies and Procedures.  Inspects, tests, and/or performs diagnostic work on customer vehicles to determine the costs of needed brake repairs, utilizing AMRA/MAP Uniform Inspection and Communication Standards.

All job duties will be performed consistent with Just Brakes mission, goal, vision, values and financial objectives.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Determine needed customer vehicle  repairs  by  performing any  of  the  following duties:  road test of vehicle, use of mechanical testing devices, questioning customer and/or Shop Foreman about vehicle performance, and/or visual inspection of vehicle.
  2. Assist customers in making educated decisions concerning repairs of their vehicles, including answering all questions about the need for specific recommended services.
  3. Estimate cost of repair and prepare inspection / work orders, using the Just Brakes POS system.
  4. Handle customer complaints at the Center level.
  5. Direct Shop Foreman and/or Lead Brake Technician to perform necessary repairs/services.
  6. Complete P&L business reports, other daily business reports and SERs; as needed.
  7. Promote continuous improvement of workplace safety and environment compliance practices.
  8. Attend Just Brakes training as directed.
  9. Answer telephones, using Just Brakes Telephone Procedures.
  10. Maintain appropriate skill level with traditional or advanced hand tools.
  11. Keep  abreast  of  current  developments in  the  field  of  automotive  brake  repair, including but not limited to discovering new information and technology for both current and future problem solving in vehicle diagnosis.
  12. Clean all areas of Center (inside and out) as needed.
  13. Maintain regular and reliable attendance.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Assists the Center Manager in the overall management of Center; including training, managing and directing the daily activities of Center employees and providing input in the evaluation of their work performance; in accordance with Just Brakes policies and procedures.
  2. Acts as the Center Manager in the absence of the Center Manager from the store.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  1. A  strong,  demonstrated  knowledge  of  general  shop  procedures  and  overall production requirements in a Just Brakes Service Center.
  2. Experience managing and directing the work of two or more employees.
  3. Demonstrated knowledge and  experience in  the  operation of  Just Brakes POS system.
  4. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  5. Ability to add and subtract in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals and compute rate, ratio, and percent.
  6. Must have dependable transportation to work.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  1. High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED); or twelve months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred.
  2. Basic Windows based computer skills preferred.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES and REGISTRATIONS

  1. Just Brakes Road Test Certification is required.
  2. A.S.E. Certification is preferred.
  3. MAP Accreditation is preferred.
  4. Just Brakes Brake Safety Expert and Brake Lathe Certifications are preferred.
  5. Valid and current driver's license is required. 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  1. The employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands and fingers, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk, see and hear. The employee frequently is required to sit.
  2. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds; with assistance.
  3. Required vision abilities include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  4. The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock and must occasionally climb to high, precarious levels.
  5. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold and extreme heat (due to weather conditions), and wet and/or humid conditions.
  6. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud and the employee is exposed to vibration.
  7. Long duration computer keyboard use is possible.
  8. Overtime on demand is required for all positions.
