Certified Flagger Job Description

Flag motorists to warn them of obstacles or repair work ahead and control traffic during street and road maintenance. Duties may include, but are not limited to:

•        Set out signs and cones around work areas to divert traffic

•        Drive trucks to transport crews and equipment to work sites for street and road maintenance

•        Drive heavy equipment and vehicles with adjustable attachments to mow grass and weeds and use a weed whacker

•        Dump, spread, and tamp asphalt, using pneumatic tampers, to repair joints and patch broken pavement to repair streets and roads

•        Operate machines to spread, smooth, level, or steel-reinforce stone, concrete, or asphalt on road beds

•        Inspect, clean, maintain, and repair equipment, using mechanics' hand tools, or report malfunctions to supervisors

 

Ideal Certified Flagger Candidates

•        Valid Flagging Certification for SC

•        Ability to stand for 11 hours

•        Reliable Transportation

•        Excellent attendance

 

Pay Rate: $9.00 per hour

Shift/Hours: 1st shift, 6:30 am – 6 pm
