The Time Warner Cable Corporate office currently seeks a Sr. Network Engineer for our Enterprise Network Operations Department. Below please find a brief description of the essential duties and responsibilities required to function successfully in this position.
Position Summary

Time Warner Cable ' s enterprise network is a worldwide, privately owned, scalable multi-gigabit infrastructures, hundreds of site-to-site VPNs, and three highly redundant data centers. Technologies include: Juniper firewall and routers, Cisco routers and switches.

The Network Engineer works within a team of individuals to provide network operational support for Time Warner Cable ' s, wide area network. The position reports to the Sr. Director Enterprise Network Operations.
Essential Job Functions:


- Participate in the maintenance of a large enterprise network which includes an Enterprise WAN, remote access, and hundreds of facilities.

- Troubleshoot network communication problems as they relate to routing and switching

- Correlate detected network events to identify potential problems or root causes

- Assist application and system owners in troubleshooting problematic network dependent applications

- Serve as an escalation point for Edge Network staff members

- Participate in projects that involve existing network infrastructure

- Participate in a formal incident rapid response process for high priority incidents

- Collaborate with the team to insure that an incident ' s underlying problems are managed and resolved

- Implement network change in the context of incident resolution, problem management and service requests

- Be aware of and follow existing network management change procedures

- Work outside of normal business hours when required (scheduled maintenance, outage response, last minute urgent requests)

- Network Documentation

Job Requirements:

- At least one relevant professional level certification such as the CCNP, CCIP, and JNCIP.

- 7+ years of progressive experience in networking and network security including VoIP, VPN ' s, enterprise routing, L3-7 switching, and Cisco IOS

- Professional level of familiarity implementing and troubleshooting Cisco 3750, 4500, 6500, and 7600

- Professional level understanding of TCP and UDP mechanics including ability to interpret packet captures

- Expert level of familiarity in implementing and troubleshooting both VRRP and HSRP

- Professional understanding of popular network communications protocols such as DNS, RPC, HTTP et cetera

- Expert understanding of Ethernet and the surrounding technology such as Spanning Tree Protocol (802.1w, 802.1d)

- Expert understanding of OSPF, and BGP, as well as real world implementation and troubleshooting experience

- Expert understanding of BGP (confederations, communities,) as well as real world implementation and troubleshooting experience

- Professional understanding of QoS as well as real world implementation and troubleshooting experience.

- Excellent oral and written communication skills

- Ability to manage several concurrent tasks and priorities

- Very strong focus on the customer ' s needs and a willingness to accommodate them

- Expert understanding of SNMP

- Self-motivation and the ability to work with almost no supervision.

Preferred Qualifications:


Knowledge & Skill: In-depth knowledge of the practical application of network engineering principles and theory, as well as general and vendor specific protocols and hardware.

Problem Solving / Judgment: Fully competent problem solver with detailed knowledge and a proven track record of successfully identifying patterns or connections between tactical situations; is relied on for guidance through the transfer of skills and knowledge to others. Ability to define problems or objectives; identify relevant concerns or factors; identify patterns, tendencies, and relationships; formulate logical and objective conclusions; recognize alternatives and their implications.

Education and Experience:
Bachelor ' s degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or equivalent training, education and experience.
