Embedded Software Engineer - Full-time / Part-time

The world's largest Marine Electronics company, is seeking a Software Design Engineer who will be responsible for designing, creating, and maintaining software for multi-function marine electronics products, with a focus on charting systems. Candidates must work well in a globally distributed team environment. Candidates must be self-motivated, able to work independently on complex systems, and adapt to new application areas."

This candidate will be responsible for designing and validating testing for sonar programs.

Primary Responsibilities:
* Designing and developing embedded software for Marine Electronics devices
* Cross-platform application debugging
* Occasional travel in the local area for on-the-water product testing
Primary Technical Requirements:
* Very strong C and C++ skills
* Mid-level experience: 3+ years of real-world development experience is desirable.

Qualifications:
* Bachelors of Science in one of the following - Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering
* Must have very strong C and C++ development and debugging skills
* Must have embedded development experience

First Day - C, C++ experience and embedded experience
Best Candidate would come from a company with experience in embedded systems
Disqualifiers - no real world embedded experience, or strong C++


* Current staff of 30 and looking to add 10
* Looking for more a C++, middle level, backend to high level UI, Object oriented
* Linux is a plus
* Most of develop is done on visual studio on pc - not needed though
* Not looking for someone with just a PC world
* There are constraint systems put in place
* Needs to be 32 bit processors, so need to use more robost sw practices
* Ok with them being remote, but hopefully local
