Southwest Medical Associates (SMA) is a multi-specialty group of physicians, Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants, consisting of over 200 providers, fourteen clinical locations including nine health care centers, five urgent care clinics and an outpatient surgery center. SMA offers patients compassion, innovation, and quality care throughout southern Nevada. SMA is headquartered in the greater Las Vegas, NV area.


 


The Radiology Technologist performs radiographic procedures per department protocol. Responsible for daily operations within the Imaging - General Radiology Department, including patient schedules, reporting equipment failures, and quality assessment. Will provide service for coverage at various SMA sites based on business needs. The shifts will typically run Monday thru Friday between 7a-330pm, however it can vary hours, days, shifts and include at minimum 2 holidays. This position will perform radiologic routine procedures in the radiology department to support non-urgent care and urgent care patients. 

 
Primary Responsibilities:



  • Following physicians' orders, produces x-ray images per departmental protocol for the use in diagnosing medical problems

  • Greets, prepares correctly identified patient for examination, and explains specific procedures to be performed in appropriate confidential area

  • Accurately maintains patient's imaging records utilizing the radiology information system (R.I.S.) and PACS/Synapse application in accordance to HIPAA, and established SMA guidelines, policies and procedures

  • Processes radio logic cassette/digital images, examines for technical quality and diagnostic acceptability

  • Maintains radiology equipment, work area, and ensures adequate supplies are available

  • Prepares copies of images, preliminary reports, and contacts referring physician when required according to established procedures

  • Follows all safety standards and uses radiation protection when operating radio logic equipment

  • May also be assigned to other modalities provided incumbent is certified or licensed in those modalities

  • Will comply with annual mandatory Fit Testing as a job requirement


 

Requirements

Required Qualifications:  



  • Graduate of an approved AMA Radiologic Technology program

  • Current ARRT(R) certification

  • Current CPR certification

  • Basic computer skills required 

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Skilled in properly positioning patients to provide quality imaging

  • Must be flexible to location and shifts depending upon business needs

  • Must have reliable transportation and proof of insurance and a current Nevada Drivers license

Preferred Qualifications:



  • Minimum one year experience in an acute care hospital setting 

  • RIS and PACS
