About this job

Programs, sets-ups and trouble shoots computerized numerical controlled machines. Requires strong mathematical skills, including trigonometry. Knowledge of shop theory and practice. The ability to interpret shop blueprints is required. Assists engineering by giving technical support. Responsible for quality of product being produced.
Programmer supports engineering, tool room, and the Factory personnel with process optimization and development primarily within but not limited to the machine shop.
1) Analyzes manufacturing processes and makes recommendations for improvements in procedures, tooling, fixturing or methodology.
2) Assists with design of tooling and fixtures for machining, fabrication, assembly, rework, and work simplification.
3) Participates in new machinery and equipment research and justification in conjunction with ME Manager.
4) Performs Installation and Operational Qualifications of New and/or Relocated equipment including software and associated components.
5) Documents changes to existing processes and equipment that improve performance and manufacturing costs.
6) Writes CNC programs, sets-up tooling, and develop tool-test trials in conjunction with CNC Programmer.
a) Trouble shoots programs (coordinates and tooling).
b) Runs first piece and checks all dimensions.
c) Adjusts program, runs second piece and checks all dimensions.
d) Responsibilities include assurance that production parts meet specifications before turning over to Machine Shop.
e) Creates program package and requests tool drawings.
f) Saves program for quick backup.
g) Changes and maintain program and program package should a change be needed.
h) Helps trouble shoot, should a problem arise in Assembly or Machine Shop.
i) Performs cost reductions as requested or as identified.
j) Assists in training of operators.
k) Assist Manufacturing Engineering in fixture design and machining.
l) Assists Maintenance in machine repair.
m) Supports in the rework and repair of machined parts

7) Coordinates and implements new tools, fixtures, gages, and processes and equipment.
8) Approves process sheets for all CNC operations.
9) Helps in problem troubleshooting in conjunction with Assembly, Machine Shop, or Maintenance.
10) Performs cost reductions as required, especially related to process, tooling, and fixture improvement.
11) Understands the Basic operation of all machine tools within the factory.
12) Understands the basic operation of the Coordinate Measuring Machine.
13) Helps in troubleshooting pump performance issues related to design, manufacturing or assembly.
14) Investigates technical problems in manufacturing, formulates solutions providing direct support to the Plant Manager.
