About this job

The Guest: Assists with maintaining maximum sales and customer satisfaction by overseeing the production of quality food and beverage served by a guest-centered staff in a clean and safe environment.

Quality Food and Beverage:

1. Regularly expedite the pass bar to assist in training, monitoring, coaching and praising employees on quality food production, plating, prep, temperature standards and ticket times on your shifts. Follow through on store plans to improve Shari’s Guest Check scores for food quality and speed of service.

2. Conduct and follow up on shift line checks and bi-weekly PPQCs on your shifts. Prepare and print daily prep sheets as needed, oversee prep duties on your shifts.

Service:

1. Assist with interviewing and developing “guest centered” staff and provide ongoing development on your shifts. Assist with ensuring that Shari’s Steps of Service are met by training and coaching service staff. Conduct pre-shift meetings to communicate game plan and motivate staff to ensure GSI scores are continually improving.

2. Manage guest satisfaction to minimize complains, follow up and resolve all complaints received on your shifts. Pass along compliments.

3. Assist with managing the restaurant’s 100 Club to promote guest relationship building. Make contact with each guest by visiting their table once during the dining experience to evaluate levels of service and satisfaction and establish a manager presence.

Sanitation and Cleanliness:

1. Train, inspect and coach staff in completing shift sidework and Mr. Clean assignments and monitor personal hygiene and uniform standards on your shifts.

2. Communicate restaurant’s equipment problems to the Manager.

3. Assist in conducting safety orientation and food safety training for new staff members and monitor employee safety practices each shift. Assist with maintaining the safety committee.

Our People: Assist with identifying, developing and retaining talented people by providing ongoing training, honest performance evaluation, and motivation. Promote employee relations through consistent implementation of company personnel policies and procedures.

Proper Staffing/Quality and Quantity:

1. Assist with identifying, interviewing and selecting qualified staff dedicated to serving quality products with pride.

2. Assist with the development of weekly staff schedules using TMX. Be familiar with all FOH POS labor reports to anticipate volumes and use scheduled labor wisely on your shifts. Assist with coaching and counseling staff to increase productivity.

People Development:

1. Assist in developing CEO trainers and maintaining a functioning CEO program. Ensure that all employees receive full and complete training following Shari’s established training programs and conduct ongoing training as needed on your shifts.

2. Attend and participate in weekly manager meeting. Participate in weekly development meetings with the General Manager.

3. Motivate staff by providing daily praise and coaching feedback on their performance on your shifts. Assist in maintaining company recognition and reward programs such as the 100 Club, anniversary, certification, Guest Check comments and company contests and promotions. Assist with store’s recognition programs.

Human Resources Management and Compliance:

1. Ensure a safe and harassment free work environment. Ensure all government mandated compliance rules are followed on your shift. Ensure that staff policies as stated in Shari’s handbook are upheld and incidents are properly reported on your shift.

2. Work to ensure that the trailing 13 period restaurant staff turnover rate is 90% or less.

3. Assist with writing and presenting staff written warnings and assist with completing staff reviews.

The Business: Assist with building sales through community involvement, implementing company marketing and maintaining high guest service scores while maintaining food, labor and other costs in accordance with company policies, procedures and operating practices.

Profitability:

1. Assist with maximizing sales by executing Shari’s Service Steps and menu production on your shifts.

2. Assist with preparing schedules and managing labor on your shifts using TMX and available labor reports. Assist with controlling food cost and waste on your shifts by using DL effectively. Assist with maintaining the restaurant’s other controllable budget.

3. Assist with improving Shari’s Guest Check scores.

Business Administration:

1. Properly complete shift and day close duties on your shifts and complete shiftly, daily, weekly and period accounting duties as assigned. Follow Shari’s Security and Banking Procedures and Shari’s Cash handling Procedures.

2. Properly execute restaurant systems on your shifts.

Communication:

1. Attend weekly manager meetings to learn important information and share feedback. Conduct 1-minute meetings on your shifts. Ensure that company communications are properly and effectively communicated on your shifts. Assist with the preparation and delivery of staff meetings.

2. Develop your verbal and written communication skills.

3. Inform the Manager of any restaurant concerns you have about product, procedures or staff in a timely manner.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

1. Able to read, write and communicate English well.

2. Possess basic math skills needed to calculate budgets, payroll, balance till and complete banking duties.

3. Able to drive and hold a valid state drivers license.

4. Proven previous management or supervisory experience.

5. Able to direct, motivate, discipline and interact with employees.

6. Possess reasoning abilities needed to project sales, evaluate budgets and analyze profit statements.

7. Able to obtain and maintain an alcohol service permit.

PHYSICAL STANDARDS:

1. Be physically fit to perform duties outlined in the hourly position descriptions (cook, dish machine operator, server, and host).
