Description
The Application Support Engineer’s primary role is responsible for developing, deploying and supporting processes and procedures necessary to provide advanced technical and business support for the company’s customer focused web based applications. To be successful in this position one must be responsible for responding to support issues in a timely manner, communicating issues and status to internal customers and management, as well as troubleshooting and resolving issues with SLAs.

This position must be able to communicate equally well with business owners, end users, and technology professionals. This position will serve as a lead organizer, facilitator, analyst, and problem solver. Excellent analytical skills, a professional demeanor and the ability to promote a team environment are essential, as are communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

• Proactively perform deep diagnostic trouble shooting to identify, communicate and drive resolution on issues
• Communicate team status to management and help keep business stakeholders informed of project status and all related issues
• Make process and systems improvement recommendations to assist the business in achieving its goals and objectives, leveraging best practices and professional experiences
• Collaborate closely with and assist application development teams when required to ensure timely delivery of system fixes
• Enable knowledge transfer to Customer Care by providing high quality case resolution notes and coaching tips; review quality of case notes periodically.
• Provide weekly status/progress report to Team manager to include HOT items status, and goals/projects progress.
• Demonstrate ability to effectively work on multiple assignments, activities or projects as required
• Obtain and maintain a working knowledge of OVE.com and Manheim.com applications, customers and business units
• Manage individual work load and assist with defining and prioritizing one’s own tasks
• Conduct analysis of support issues that identifies current state business process or system inadequacies
• Manage ticket entry, escalation, and dispatch of support issues
• Escalate issues to Engineering as necessary
• Must be willing to work in an on-call rotation supporting 24/7/365 application web sites
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Management or Engineering; or equivalent work experience
• 5+ years’ experience troubleshooting or supporting web based applications
• 3+ years’ experience with relevant relational database technologies and structured query language preferred i.e., MySQL, Microsoft SQL, PostgreSQL
• Experience with WebServices technologies and XML.
• Experience with relevant command-line server interfaces preferred i.e., Linux, Redhat, SuSE
• Demonstrated experience working in and leading team settings required
• Experience with relevant business software preferred, including Microsoft Office applications i.e., Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio and business process modeling (BPM) applications
