About this job


Part-time staff needed to collect data for the Healthy Communities Study. Work will involve administering informed consent documents to eligible respondents; gathering research data from children and adults through in-person household visits, following detailed research procedures; conducting neighborhood observations; taking height, weight, and waist circumference measurements; using structured forms and computer applications to accurately record the data; using study materials and a study laptop; following standard operating procedures; adhering to strict guidelines regarding participant confidentiality; discussing sensitive study topics with participants; working with other research team members; and communicating with and reporting to supervisors in our central offices throughout the United States.
  • Schedule will involve primarily late afternoon, early evening and weekend shifts for a total of approximately 20 to 30 hours per week. Due to study schedules, there may be periods of downtime offering less than 20 hours of work per week.
  • Must be able to complete online pre-training material and be available to attend a paid 4-day training session in Columbus, Ohio. Travel expenses will be covered.

•What are the key qualifications for the position?
? Possess excellent communication and organizational skills
? Can provide consistent and reliable data collection according to detailed procedures
? Can show extreme patience with potentially difficult respondents
? Possess independent work habits
? Can accurately complete assigned tasks in a timely manner
? Can adhere to strict guidelines regarding participant and project confidentiality
? Must be able to speak English and Spanish fluently


•What skills and experience are required?
? At least 18 years old.
? Previous data collection or field interviewing, including conducting face-to-face interviews.
? Valid driver's license and proof of insurance.
? Use of a dependable personal vehicle for local travel.
? Pass mandatory background check and drug screening.
? Physically able to carry study materials (up to 35 pounds) and walk up stairs. If unable to carry 35 pounds at once, must be able to make two trips carrying up to 20 pounds of study materials per trip.
? Attend paid 4-day training held in Columbus, Ohio and pass certification exercises on all data collection tasks
? Experience with or ability to work with children and teens.
? Very comfortable with computers/tablets and competence in accessing and using the internet.
? Experience with or ability to learn to do physical measurements using specialized equipment.

•What are the preferred qualifications?
? Bachelor's degree
? Prior survey interview experience strongly preferred.
? Preference given for experience collecting nutrition and/or physical activity data.
? Bilingual English/Spanish speakers


•What are the terms of employment?
? The positions are temporary, part-time and flexible.
? The pay rate will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
