OptumHealth Financial Services has undergone rapid growth over the last five years. The product line and customer base has expanded with a broader range of channel opportunities allowing the business to offer more complex selling and servicing arrangements. Much of the new business sold is multi-product, may span across Optum's business lines and product offerings, is custom, or requires significant product, operational and technical design and implementation services..

The candidate will be responsible for leading several customer implementations with mid to large size national companies and  contributing to several concurrent multi-product implementations that may include products within Financial Services or across Optum business lines. The candidate will contribute to best practices for designing and implementing solutions according to customer requirements. This position requires a blend of project management, process knowledge, product knowledge and strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills.

The role will be highly visible with an expectation that each customer is provided with the highest quality customer service and  exceptional communication to ensure flawless execution during their implementation.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Direct responsibility for multiple mid to large size national customer implementations.
  • Act in a highly consultative manner – working closely with the customer, internal product experts, and operations functional teams to ensure that the expectations are translated into detailed requirements.
  • Direct the production of requirement documents which communicate process workflow and data/functional/operational needs effectively and accurately to both business stakeholders and technical staff.
  • Anticipate customer needs and operational issues and proactively develop solutions to overcome the obstacles and exceed the customer's expectations.
  • Act as a high value individual contributor requiring little direction from supervisor.
  • Drive the teams to arrive at a solution that meets customer specifications and can be delivered in the time frame required.
  • Provide enhancements and continuous process improvements to the underlying implementation service framework with detailed repeatable processes. The service framework and processes need to be robust and end-to-end, involving all parties from sales through day-to-day operations teams.
  • Direct and coordinate activities of project personnel to ensure implementations progress on schedule and satisfy customer specifications.
  • Prepare detailed and accurate implementation status reports and work aggressively to resolve gaps and issues and keep the implementation on track.
  • Manage the development and execution of user acceptance test plans, training, user documentation and implementation of new systems.
  • Provide strong leadership and judgment.
  • Effectively maintain and build relationships across business groups.
  • Influence without authority in a matrix organization.
  • Demonstrated technical capability combined with the ability to effectively communicate technical detail to non-technical individuals. 
  • Create a team-oriented work climate enabling professional development, encouraging creative solutions and strategies, establishing collaboration and emphasizing quality and cost.
  • Facilitate senior management decision making within the scope and change management process.

Requirements

Requirements:
  • BA/BS required;
  • 2+ years solid experience in program/project management.
  • 2+ years experience in a managed health care or health insurance environment
  • Previous consulting experience
  • Knowledge of financial transactions
  • Intermediate  Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Ability to travel approximately 10%. Travel locations and frequency will vary depending on project.
Soft Skills:
  • Demonstrated ability to work against a plan, meet deadlines and produce deliverables relative to target dates. Exceptional consulting skills and customer savviness; prior experience as a consultant) managing, defining, leading and successfully delivering engagements. Deep operational knowledge of financial transactions is preferred, particularly the overall workflow, technology and business process intersections.
  • Ability to establish trust and credibility at all levels of an organization.
  • Proven ability to influence complicated courses of action when others are directly accountable for outcomes.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to influence, negotiate and lead regardless of title or authority.
  • Proven ability to independently and successfully apply process acumen to process improvement projects, with measurable business performance improvement outcomes. 
  • Strong written and verbal business communication skills.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
  • Frequent speaking, listening using a headset, sitting, use of hands/fingers across keyboard or mouse, handling other objects, and long periods working at a computer
  • Service center environment with moderate noise level due to Representatives talking, computers, printers, and floor activity
