The Director of Strategic Sourcing reports to the Vice President of Strategic Sourcing at SharedClarity LLC, and is an integral part of the strategic sourcing team. This individual, along with their staff, is the industry expert for specific medical devices and also responsible for designing and executing a successful sourcing process. They are responsible for the development and execution of 10-15 medical device category strategies accounting for $1-2B in annual purchases; along with managing relevant supplier performance and relationships. In addition, this position will be responsible for recruiting, training, developing, and retaining a world class strategic sourcing team.

Primary Responsibilities:



  • Perform sourcing and supplier management functions including leading cross functional category teams, category strategy development, supplier negotiations, supplier business reviews, and related activities

  • Develop and implement long-range sourcing strategies that meet the clinical, operational and financial needs of SharedClarity's members and customers

  • Become industry expert in 10-15 medical device products within the healthcare industry

  • Lead negotiator of individual contracts that may exceed $100M annually

  • Develop, train and mentor their strategic sourcing team; establish appropriate expectations, performance metrics, and support for their team; develop a culture that attracts, rewards and promotes high quality professionals

  • Analyze business performance and identify, recommend, and implement approved strategic sourcing strategies that increase the company's competitive edge, expand its strategic sourcing coverage, and increases contract utilization by members and customers

  • Liaison with targeted suppliers and business partners to demonstrate company and personal commitments to quality and extraordinary service

  • Identify and recommend improvements to company operations and business systems to improve strategic sourcing efforts and company profitability

  • Provide insights into supplier, market, and competitive dynamics to assist in the strategic positioning of company in the marketplace

  • Develop, deploy, monitor, and enforce department policies and procedures

  • Anticipated staff for this position includes 2-3 FTE's, consisting of Analysts and Interns

Requirements

Required Qualifications:



  • Undergraduate degree in supply chain management, finance, and/or business administration

  • 5+ years of experience in a contracting, supply chain management, and/or strategic sourcing leadership position

  • Proven leadership skills developing and leading a strategic sourcing team

  • Strong knowledge of medical device products and industry

  • Trusted business/strategic advisor to clinical and business colleagues, able to influence decisions

  • Excellent judgment; ability to make sound business decisions easily; strong negotiating skills

  • Strong verbal, written, and listening skills

  • Experience in the healthcare industry

Preferred Qualifications:



  • MBA

  • Experience in re-engineering a healthcare purchasing department

  • Company start-up experience
