Key Responsibilities

PPG Industrial Coatings produces coatings for appliances , agricultural and construction equipment , consumer electronics , automotive parts , residential and commercial construction, wood flooring and many other finished products.

PPG Industrial Coatings is committed to ongoing research and development of innovative technologies. From pre-treatment and electrocoat , to liquid , powder and even ultra-violet (UV) and electro-beam (EB) coatings, PPG can meet virtually any coatings challenge.

Reporting into a Technical Service Manager this position will ideally be based in Dallas, TX or surrounding area. In this role the Technical Service Representative (TSR) is the primary point of contact between PPG and our customers providing technical service in customer facilities on a wide range of products and application techniques throughout Texas and Oklahoma. This role will require daily customer travel to their plant locations.

TSR’s are looked upon to provide the customer with a product and technical know-how to ensure PPG products and services outperform competitors. In this role you will be well versed in product composition, customer application equipment, environmental issues, and processes that are ancillary to the finishing operations.

The role of technical service is a key part of the overall selling effort. PPG markets and sells superior technical know-how in conjunction with its products and services. PPG customers place a high value on this know-how as it helps them run their operations in a cost effective manner. Superior service is a key to maintaining existing business and developing sales position and strategies to acquire new business.

The TSR will provide sales support to maintain and expand business at existing accounts and to assist with launches / start-ups of new accounts. The TSR will also interface with PPG sales and technical organization assisting in the design, development and commercialization of new coating products and services ensuring they work well with the customers’ processes.

Principle accountabilities:
  • Comply with all of PPG EHS guidelines and initiatives.
  • Accountable for sales and profit plans at their assigned accounts and provide key assistance in setting sales strategies and executing sales / profit plans for the entire product line / region.
  • Build sales position by establishing strong customer relationships at all levels, provide timely resolution to customer’s concerns, and quickly troubleshoot problems.
  • Oversee / implement strategies for the management of inventory programs at customer locations of PPG product to increase inventory turns, reduce product obsolescence and maximize freight advantages.
  • Identify customer’s needs / expectations and assess competitive activities such that sales strategies can be developed to increase sales / profits.
  • Maximize profit contribution by differentiation through superior technical problem solving which produces higher yield rates, lower reject rates and optimum appearance on the customer’s production line.
  • Primary contact person for all customer complaints and questions. Will be the lead spokesperson / liaison in communicating between the customer and internal PPG support departments.
  • Service other customers in surrounding states and support the sales and service team when necessary


Qualifications

Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of a Associates Degree
  • At least three (3) years of experience in a technical service or manufacturing support role


Preferred Qualifications (in addition to the Required Qualifications)
  • Experience in liquid coatings and equipment with exposure to pretreatment, electrocoat and powder coatings.


Skills

  • Proven ability to identify, trouble-shoot and provide corrective action to issues
  • Strong computer skills and be comfortable in writing technical reports
