This position is responsible for handling patient complaints that have been escalated from the facilities, the web inquire, the C.F.O. or hospital administration.  The Dispute Resolution team reviews in its entirety the patient's complaint and how the account was charged, billed and processed.  The Patient Dispute Representative must work with appropriate department management for charge clarifications, risk management issues and P.F.S to interpret what transpired on the account.  Each complaint requires the utmost care and compassion in delivering the response to the patient to ensure they understand and are satisfied with the outcome.  As a primary contact point for customers, it is essential that the position exemplify the Dignity Health Values and a commitment to customer satisfaction.

Requirements

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED 
  • Available to work 40 hours per week within the operating hours of the site (Monday - Friday 7am to 5pm)
  • 1+ years of Billing and Finance and Eligibility processes, practices and concepts (Senior Patient Account Assistant for Dignity Health and Optum360)
  • 1+ years Medical and insurance terminology
  • 1+ year experience with correspondence and drafting patient dispute letters as well as resolving client related issues as primary job function
  • Basic Billing and Follow up experience

Assets:

  • Intermediate proficiency of MS Office suite preferred; MS, Word, Excel, Visio and Outlook
  • Basic knowledge of managed care industry preferred
  • Basic Knowledge of Billing and Finance and Eligibility processes, practices and concepts preferred
  • 1+ years of patient accounting experience preferred
  • Bilingual in Spanish, Mandarin, or Farsi preferred

  • Ability to balance and prioritize multiple tasks
  • Must be willing to work and contribute in a team environment and flexible to change

Work Environment:

  • Extended periods of sitting at a computer and use of hands and fingers across keyboard or mouse
  • Office environment
  • Frequent speaking, listening using a headset, sitting, use of hands/fingers across keyboard or mouse, handling other objects, long periods working at a computer
  • Service center environment with moderate noise level due to Representatives talking, computers, printers, and floor activity
