About this job

Optum is looking for a high performance development leader for a team building cloud based services in the high growth domain of healthcare. This position will lead an engineering team building out health care related services in a new cloud based environment. Preferred candidate must have hands on experience managing engineering teams working on cutting edge technologies.


 



  • Manage and lead of a team of 4-5+ composed of Developers  

  • Collaborating with other application development, quality assurance and technology infrastructure teams  

  • Ability to understand business requirements quickly and translate into how the process will work end to end  

  • Managing the delivery of software in a large, complex application environment  

  • Project and resource planning  

  • Maintaining relationships with senior business and IT leaders 

  • Recommending strategies and negotiate scope to better support and meet business needs 

  • Human Resource management including hiring, performance assessment and retention of staff  

  • Creating and managing budgets

  •  Delivering software solutions to spec, on time, and with quality  

Requirements

Required Qualifications:


  • Minimum of 5 years of software development experience using various SDLC's

  • Minimum of 3 years hands-on experience with J2EE technologies

  • Familiarity with SOA based frameworks

  • Familiarity with Cloud based infrastructure and deploying software solutions on them

  • Experience leading teams on an Agile Scrum project

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience mentoring and growing junior leaders on engineering teams

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

 

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Experience in the Healthcare industry

  • Versed in the skills and experienced in the practice of leading organizational change

  • Strong project management, customer service and conflict management skills that can be applied in providing support and direction to team members and key business and IS staff leading projects

  • Proven ability to develop and implement initiatives successfully from the strategic planning phase through execution and post-implementation
