We are seeking a Data Center Operating Engineer to join our Chaska, MN team.  

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Be part of a 7x24 team that operates and
    monitors critical electrical, mechanical and fire/life safety systems within
    UHG's enterprise data centers. 
  • Perform re-occurring maintenance on data
    center mechanical and electrical assets.  Post results in computer systems.
  • Correct defects when they arise. 
  • Monitor BMS-building management and operate
    the SCADA-supervisory, control and data acquisition system.  

Additional Duties:

  • Communicate regularly with peers on shift
    turnovers and on operational changes.
  • Suggest improvements in the quality,
    integrity, and efficiency of operations.
  • Adapt to temporary shift schedule changes
    required to deal with absences of peers.
  • Use computer-based tools, like
    CMMS--computerized maintenance management systems for asset definition and
    preventative maintenance.
  • Use HPSM-HP Service Manager for the creation
    of change and incident records. 
  • Excellent communications with others,
    especially regarding technical matters both written and verbal. 
  • Ability to work independently and manage
    multiple priorities and interruptions.

Requirements

Required Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 1+ year experience operating key electrical assets, including
    UPS-uninterruptible power systems, batteries, ATSs-automatic transfer switches,
    transformers, VFD-variable frequency drives, PDUs-power distribution units and
    generators.
  • 1+ year experience operating key mechanical assets, including
    chillers, towers, water treatment, CRACs-computer room air conditioners, pumps,
    sumps and leak detection systems. 
  • 1+ year experience using key fire-life safety systems, including VESDA and pre action sprinkler systems
  • Must be able to lift and carry 40 lbs.
  • Must be able to sit and stand for long periods of time and be able to climb ladders and walk on cat-walks.
  • United States Citizenship
  • Ability to obtain favorable adjudication following submission of Department of Defense form SF86 .
  • The position will be working Monday - Thursday from 9:00 pm CST - 7:00 am CST.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous experience within a large data center
  • Licensed electrician or licensed Universal CFC

As
a requirement of UnitedHealth Group's contract with the Department of Defense, this
position requires U.S. citizenship and proof of favorable adjudication
following submission of Department of Defense form SF86 ,
(the National Agency Check or “NAC”). 
Successful completion of the NAC process is a requirement for continued
employment in this role.  NAC processing
will be initiated by our TRICARE Security Officer post-offer, and can take 3-6
months for a final decision communication from the Department of Defense.  Candidates will be allowed to begin
employment with UnitedHealth Group in this role based on an interim clearance,
and final results will be communicated as they are received.  Failure to obtain final NAC approval will
result in termination from this role.
