The Sr. Legal Administrative Assistant will perform a wide variety of complex, confidential, technical and administrative tasks in support of the Legal Department’s Intellectual Property work group. The ideal candidate will have at least three years of work experience in the area of Intellectual Property or Technology. In addition, he/she will provide assistance to the Communications and Advertising teams by opening new legal reviews and following-up with the assigned SME’s (Subject Matter Expert) to obtain responses to meet business deadlines.  This person will also communicate and follow-up with internal/external customers regarding legal requests associated with advertising, communication review and proper trademark guidelines.

Other Duties

  • Legal writing, proofreading, reviewing and preparing various documents (utilizing legal terminology and standard legal formats)
  • Support of work group in areas involving complex or multiple issues related to material non-public information, complex marketing projects and organization/maintenance of files
  • Assisting with confidential administrative duties which require a high degree of independent judgment, accuracy and timeliness
  • Prepare and coordinate information for individuals within and outside the work group
  • Scanning and saving legal documents to the Legal Department’s document management system
  • Prepare documents, proofreading, conducting research with regard to trademark infringement matters
  • Updating and filing of various documents related to infringements patents and trademarks
  • Work with internal customers and outside counsel on drafting of trademark license agreements
  • Preparing reports for internal customers and working on special projects as needed

Preferred Competencies

  • Demonstrates ability to produce financial and record retention reports, apply college-level grammatical skills to various communications
  • Responds timely and accurately to various requests received from other UPS departments relating to intellectual property
  • Demonstrates specialized legal knowledge, judgment and independent initiative is required to identify, adapt and apply approaches in solving problems as a regular part of the job
  • Demonstrates ability to handle a variety of confidential administrative duties which require a high degree of independent judgment, accuracy and timeliness as well as provide administrative and receptionist support for the Corporate Legal Department

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience in a law office or corporate office environment
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, including word, PowerPoint and Excel or equivalent software preferred
