JOB DESCRIPTION

The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for the design, development, validation, and improvement of products.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Actively pursues continuous improvement of engineering skills, leading to better designs
  • Uses developed procedures and processes that lead to reliable designs
  • Warranty reduction
  • Under the direction of the Engineering Director and other engineers, designs, develops, and documents products which meet the functional, cost, reliability, manufacturability, and safety requirements
  • Acquires and applies skills necessary to design, develop, and introduce new products with the greatest possible design margins and in the shortest amount of time
  • Identifies, quantifies, and implements tools, methods, processes and equipment which improve the quality, reliability, and productivity of the department
  • Communicate information to co-workers, customers, and suppliers which they require to do their jobs; Communication must be objective and accomplished in a neutral to positive manner

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering field
  • 5-10 years mechanical design experience
  • Pneumatics and hydraulics design experience including working to codes such as ASME and PED and creating schematics
  • Hands on experience within manufacturing
  • Broad knowledge of machining and fabrication processes and how to apply them to practical design of heavy machinery
  • Full cycle project and product development
  • Experience with structural civil work is desirable
  • Experience with stress analysis and project management strongly preferred
