The Associate Director of Finance is responsible for various financial functions within Optum Health Behavioral Solutions supporting UnitedHealthcare Community & State in the New York Market. 


 


Primary Responsibilities:



  • Forecast the New York behavioral health plan. This includes revenue, benefit expense, affordability initiatives and operating costs

  • Review of the month end process and present the results to senior management. Explain variances to forecast/budget and assist clinical staff to analyze areas in need of improvement

  • Develop claims projects and analytics to assist the clinical staff in managing the population. This may include vendor analysis, network optimization and modeling of new programs within the health plan. Present findings to audiences without a financial background

  • Point person for requests for information from state partners for behavioral services. This includes gathering the analysis and summarizing the data in a manner that is easily presented by compliance personnel. This could include changes in the agreement between UHC and the state with tight turnaround times

  • Represent Optum Behavioral in all things finance with sister segment, Community and State. This may include rate negotiations, requests for proposals and regulatory reporting needs

  • Assist the local senior management with ad hoc requests. In a heavily matrixed company,  identify appropriate resources to resolve a request that spans across functional areas

Requirements

Required Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting or equivalent

  • 5+ years finance or accounting experience

  • Budgeting and forecasting experience

  • Financial reporting

  • Financial planning and analysis

  • Intermediate Excel experience

Preferred Qualifications:



  • MBA and/or CPA

  • 2+ years supervisory experience

  • Financial modeling

  • Presentation skills and experience

  • Healthcare experience

  • PeopleSoft and Essbase experience

  • Month end close
