The Refund Clerk performs routine clerical duties in the processing of credits/refunds on patient accounts.  Audits accounts to determine what created credit balance and determine whether credit should be refunded;  makes determination for refunding based on (a) no other open accounts for patient (b) contractual obligations; adjusts accounts as necessary; prepares check request for refund checks to the appropriate insurance companies and/or patients; answers phones or letters from patients regarding overpayments; verify by phone the primary payor and refund accordingly; research accounts as necessary; performs related duties as assigned.

• Moderate work experience within own function.
• Some work is completed without established procedures.
• Basic tasks are completed without review by others.
• Supervision/guidance is required for higher level tasks.

Requirements:

• High school diploma/GED
• Working Hours 7:30am - 5:00pm M - F
  
• 1+ year of experience in a hospital business office setting
• Authorization to work in the United States
• Available to work 40 hours per week within the operating hours of the site
• Basic proficiency with Windows PC applications, which includes the ability to learn new and complex computer system applications

• Extended periods of sitting at a computer and use of hands/fingers across keyboard or mouse
