Manager Web Developer - Java (FT or PT)

We have a full-time/part-time opening for a Manager Web Developer - Java (FT or PT).

Must be able to work various shifts per week.

A unique membership based non-profit in Columbus, Ohio with the mission to strengthen the impact of nonprofit organizations by enhancing their ability to manage their business operations and achieve their mission through sustainable and affordable information management, education and technology solutions is seeking a Manager Web Developer - Java.  Since 2006, its membership has grown to over 200 nonprofits representing the arts, human services, mental health, advocacy, education and environmental services.  The organization currently has 15 employees. The Manager Web Developer position is responsible for leading the development of innovative, reusable Web-based tools for customers. The web developers work as part of an agile team to produce quality web experiences that can be reused and re-purposed whenever possible. The organization is looking for a self-starter who will be an energetic developer who takes initiative, enjoys finding solutions to complex challenges, is detail-oriented, takes pride in their work, and enjoys working with a team of professionals who are dedicated to making a difference in nonprofit organizations. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop high quality web applications using Java, Spring, Struts, JSP, Linux, Apache, Tomcat, MS-SQL and HTML/CSS
• Develop other team members as appropriate to facilitate a solid team
• Effectively manage projects from start to finish
• Perform requirements gathering and organizing as necessary on new projects
• Produce detailed project estimates, including level of effort required in both points and hours
• Assist with developing detailed specification documents with clear deliverables and milestones
• Investigate and analyze emerging technologies that can be integrated into our toolkit

 
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE:

• BS in computer science or a related field, or significant equivalent experience
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in Web programming using tools such as Java, JSP, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, Jquery and Ajax
• Minimum of 4 years of experience with Linux, Apache/Tomcat, NGINX
• Working knowledge of MS- SQL and/or MySQL
• Team leadership skills
• Strong communication skills
• Strong organizational skills to manage multiple timelines and complete tasks quickly and within budget constraints
• A customer-centric focus and a desire to make a difference in the community

 
DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

• MS-SQL Server DBA experience
• CentOS, Fedora, Redhat Linux Administration, performance tuning, patch management
• RESTful Web services development and integration
• VMWare vCloud Management
• Webserver Administration
• DNS and Network Administration
• Experience using Word Press and general familiarity of the available plug-ins
• Some knowledge of social media integration including Facebook / Twitter app creation
• Understanding of SEO strategies
• Familiarity with Authorize.net payment processor
• Interest in learning about and leveraging emerging technologies
