The Senior Associate Compensation at Discover provides counsel to HR generalists and business partners on compensation related matters, policies, practices and/or procedures. Our compensation team collaborates directly with the business to advise and execute on comp-related initiatives that can facilitate the achievement of each units immediate and long-term objectives. This role conducts market analysis and research to support compensation decisions and program recommendations to ensure competitive position (internal/external) for pay, retention and motivation. This role reports to the Senior Manager of Compensation Consulting.

Specific job activities include:
• Analyze job descriptions and specifications; apply job evaluation techniques to establish rates equitable within the organization and as compared to market. Assist with special salary requests for competitive salary offers.
• Respond to internal client requests, including custom report development and analyses of compensation issues. Propose solutions and work with internal clients to implement solutions.
• Manage compensation projects, including writing of proposals/recommendations, implementation and maintenance of cost effective and legally compliant compensation programs and practices.
• Participate in third party compensation surveys and provide continuous research with peer companies and similar external markets.
• Participate in the planning and administration of annual merit increase, bonus and long-term incentive process.
• Adhere to and ensure compliance with regulatory agencies, internal requirements and HR policies.
• Assist in the design of complex compensation reports. Demonstrate understanding of the requirements/data elements to create reports which streamline and support compensation programs.
• Define process improvement and best practice opportunities to current business/work processes.
• Document new procedures and business process work flow as relates to compensation.

Qualifications

• 3 or more years of progressive, broad based Compensation experience
• Bachelors Degree or Equivalent
• Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) preferred but not required
• Demonstrated experience working with advanced functions of MS Offices or related technologies (MS Access, Excel pivot tables, Vlookups, relational databases, etc.)
• Strong analytical and statistical skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently yet handle multiple projects
• Excellent writing and presentation skills
• Ability to influence others without formal authority
